  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Once you arrive at Oastbrook Estate Hideaway, magically crafted into a woodland hill in the heart of Sussex countryside, it would be easy to feel as though you’re blissfully miles away from anywhere at all.

Yet with Bodiam Castle in easy walking distance, you’ve got this amazing part of the world entirely at your feet.

The authentic house itself has been beautifully constructed from local materials, and sleeps up to four guests in two en-suite bedrooms. Set within the owner’s vineyard, there are stunning views all around – and these only continue as you step through the round, intricately-carved front door.

Enter into the gorgeous open-plan living and dining area, which has plenty of welcoming space for everybody to stretch out and relax in. You’ll find a squishy patchwork sofa and a hand-crafted wooden bench all ready and waiting, along with a cosy sheepskin rug, and plenty of plump cushions.

After breaking bread at the dining table, simply fire up the wood-burning stove for a soothing evening of chatting and catching up over drinks (just switch on the Sky-installed Smart TV if you get bored). Even the ceiling has the wow-factor here; vaulted, beamed, and sprinkled with stars.

Plenty of careful attention to detail has been paid, not only to the beauty of your comfy surroundings, but in ensuring you’ll have everything you need during your stay. The kitchen area is fabulously equipped with appliances galore, including a Nespresso coffee machine, and that all-important dishwasher.

(In fact, with solid oak flooring and toasty underfloor heating throughout, it feels a little bit like a storybook character has requested an upgrade!)
