An architect-designed ‘luxury hotel room' in a crane nestled above the water, with rotational Old Town and city views from the south of the Netherlands.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 1 night

The Tramkade is a former industrial area in the southern Dutch city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch (known locally as Den Bosch.)

Once home to a procession of factories, over time the district has transformed into a buzzing, culture-rich hub, lined with creative workshops, art spaces, terraces, and cafés.

And it’s here, soaring twelve metres high on the water’s edge, that you’ll discover De Bossche Kraan (‘the Bosch Crane’) – a stylish double ‘hotel room’ created from an old harbour crane, for the very best views around!

Architect-designed, and brought to life by a creative team of Tramkade residents, the luxurious space is not only full of comfort, but has been sustainably crafted with respect for the city’s industrial heritage. The result is that you will genuinely feel as though you’re relaxing in a crane, with all the unique wonder that entails!

One side of the space resembles a traditional engine room, with the original levers that control the crane, while the other side, painted in striking industrial yellow, boasts a wall of windows for jaw-dropping scenery.

Naturally, there’s a downy double bed to curl up in… but how many beds feature buttons at their side, for you to rotate the room by up to 240 degrees? An ideal feature if you’d rather not have to get up and tackle those levers in the engine room!

Feel free to choose your own holiday vista, whether it’s the shimmering river Dieze, a magical panorama of the Old Town, or the bustling Tramkade itself. You may even be able to take in the iconic Sint-Jan, the city’s awe-inspiring Gothic cathedral.

What the guests of De Bossche Kraan say

“A great experience! A unique location that allows you to create your own view of the city: you can see the sun set and rise again and almost the whole of the Den Bosch skyline. The interior is beautiful with lots of attention to detail. Also, its location allows you to see other cool parts of the city that are normally not found by regular tourists. The bed was very comfortable, but I found it hard to go to sleep because I did not want to miss anything about the surroundings and experience! To finish it off, I had a delicious breakfast with fresh and local products.”

“Unique experience! Beautiful place and surroundings. Kind details. High quality.”

“What a top concept! While I am amazed at the renovation, my friend is like a child turning the controls in the driver’s cabin. We have never been welcomed so wonderfully hospitably without even seeing one person. In short, top concept, top performance.”
