A luxurious conversion of a Grade II-listed, 16th century rural Somerset barn, complete with an indoor swimming pool and an al fresco hot tub.
  • Sleeps: 4
  • Bedrooms: 2
  • Bathrooms: 2
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Nestled just outside the Somerset village of Halse, Cornflower Cottage is a converted Grade II-listed, 16th century barn that’s rich in traditional countryside charm.

Many characterful original features have been left intact, and the beautiful stone exterior hints at a peaceful journey back in time.
Not that you’ll be lacking in any modern luxuries here, however, since you’ll also get to enjoy private sessions in a heated indoor swimming pool, and an al fresco hot tub that’s perfect for stargazing!

Sleeping up to four guests and two well-behaved dogs – plus one more small child or a baby – this is the ideal retreat for small families, as there’s lots of enclosed outdoor space for playtime.

(All the grown-ups need to do is pour a drink and supervise, from the shaded comfort of the furnished patio!)

Later on, fire up the barbecue for a sizzling sunset supper, or head back inside to the sleek, well-equipped kitchen and diner to enjoy holiday feasts all together.
Curl up in front of the log burner and watch a film on the wall-mounted TV, before snuggling in your favourite of two cosy superking bedrooms. You’ll have two bathrooms to choose from too, so there’ll be no awkward morning queues.

What to do after you’ve woken – and freshened – up? Well, with so much wonderful space to call your own, you’d be forgiven for simply staying put at the cottage, splashing around in the swimming pool, or simply getting lost in a good book out on the patio.

But if you feel like exploring, historic Halse is a short walk away, and there’s plenty of scope for walking and cycling (ample bike storage is available at the cottage, too.)
