Once a humble storeroom for gunpowder and candles, Canon Cave is a captivating retreat for a romantic couple looking to ‘get away from it all’… yet with all the unique delights of Edinburgh in easy reach.

Affectionately named ‘the cave’ by its owner, who along with an expert team of builders skilfully renovated the ancient storeroom himself, this is a basement bolthole quite unlike any you’ll have experienced before.

Softly-illuminated original beams and centuries-old stonework create a mesmerising backdrop for detail-rich décor and opulent furnishings, which include a designer copper bathtub-for-two (set right by the 55-inch TV, for epic movie nights complete with bubbles!) and a full-sized kitchen with a marble worktop and dining island.

Later, there’s a plush, jewel-toned sofa to snuggle up on, with a wine fridge, controllable lighting, a Sonos soundbar, and a real, gently-glowing wood-burner to help you set the perfect evening mood. There’s underfloor heating too, so you’ll be perfectly toasty no matter what the Scottish weather happens to be doing.

If you’re really in the mood for a treat, you can pre-order a lavish hamper all ready for your arrival, packed with everything you’ll need for the perfect night in… think champagne and chocolates, or bath bombs, face-masks, and marshmallows!

When it’s finally time to turn in, there’ll be a downy superking bed waiting to welcome you, set within its own private nook. Oh – and since the ceiling has been soundproofed especially, you can expect to drift off into a sound, silent night’s sleep.

Wake up to morning coffee out on your peaceful private patio, before freshening up in the indulgent wet-room, with its double shower and gleaming tiles direct from the Edinburgh Tile Studio.
