Bugail Hut at Hide is sumptuously nestled among private, seven-and-a-half-acre woodland in the ancient village of St Donats, close to the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

The elegantly-decorated shepherd’s hut (bugail is the Welsh word for shepherd) couldn’t be more perfectly positioned for a romantic rural escape: sheltered below a tulip tree in the secluded arboretum.  Here you can savour soul-soothing meadow views from large windows… or indeed, from the cosy terrace.

Of course, everything you’ll need is gainfully on hand, including a well-equipped kitchen annex and bathroom, plus a comfy bed for sound nights of slumber and lazy lie-ins.

On cooler evenings, unwind by the wood-burner with a well-deserved glass of wine, and get lost in the kind of deep, laughter-fuelled conversations you never seem to find time for at home – with nobody else around to disturb you.

By day, take a breezy coastal walk to one of many traditional pubs you’ll discover along the way, or wander into the village and explore the fascinating medieval castle and church.  Bustling Cardiff is a mere 25-minute drive away, so there’s plenty to see and do – if you can tear yourselves away from your cosy couple’s sanctuary, that is!
