When you first arrive at Brookbank Folly, you could be forgiven for thinking this gorgeous cabin has been here for centuries. From the crooked garden fence to the remarkable timber-framed structure, Brookbank Folly bursts with character and old-world charm. However, this stunning bespoke holiday cottage has been hand built for 21st-century guests to enjoy a little slice of heaven in this glorious corner of the country.
Everything about Brookbank Folly has been designed to blend with these magnificent surroundings, from its unobtrusive single-storey design to the use of timber sourced from the forest itself. Surrounded by trees, you and your loved one will feel perfectly sheltered, tucked away from the rest of the world as you begin to relax and unwind.
As you step through the wooden front door (ingeniously crafted from the individual branches of trees!), you’ll enter into a wonderfully light and airy open-plan living area. Even before you’ve set down your bags, you’ll be struck by the wealth of quirky bespoke features which make Brookbank Folly so unique. A mixture of window styles – including triangular-shaped and stained glass – fill this room with sunlight, while a gently sloping ceiling creates a sense of genuine cosiness. And throughout, you’ll notice countless timber beams which have been lovingly selected, hewn and built into this exceptional bolthole.
The cosy sitting area features a cute armchair and large sofa (which also transforms to a bed if required), perfectly positioned to afford splendid views of the pretty, peaceful garden. A coal-effect electric fire adds country charm, keeping you toasty as you cuddle up to watch the television, or perhaps your favourite DVD. Throws, cushions and a hide rug add homely touches, while the classy standard lamps bring contemporary style to this room.
The dining area offers a mid-century-inspired table for two, and also provides views of the garden as you dine. Leading through, you’ll find yourself in the bespoke kitchen area, where wooden worktops have been carefully crafted to accommodate Brookbank Folly’s wonderfully crooked walls. With an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge, you’ll find every necessity you need for preparing your favourite meals together.
The kitchen brings you to the quirky curved bathroom, complete with a shower, basin and WC. You’ll even find beautiful timber beams in here, surely making this one of the most unique bathrooms you’ve ever experienced!
The peaceful double bedroom is just as special, with stunning beams running down and across each wall, an inverted triangular window, and a cosy bed topped with a warm woollen throw for the comfiest night’s sleep.
