A stay at Bracken Treehouse will feel as though you’ve been spirited away to a magical, faraway place. Surrounded by the gently whispering trees and abundant wildlife of Airdit Woods, it’ll be hard to believe that both historic St Andrews and vibrant Dundee are a mere 15-minute drive away.

Better still, this is a magical, faraway place that’s infused with plenty of digital-free luxury. The sleek, stylish treehouse is elevated on a cliffside for a blissful sense of being at one with the trees, sustainably crafted to harmonise with the natural environment. A full-length, canopy-facing window allows natural light to flood cheerfully inside, as well as ensuring the most magnificent views even in stormy weather.

(Though if the evening sun is gleaming, a soak in the sumptuous outdoor bath – from which you can almost touch the branches – is a treat that promises to live long in your memory).

Your comfy bed, meanwhile, is perfectly positioned underneath a stargazing window, so you can drift off to a dreamy night-time canvas. There’s a huge window at the end of the bed, too, for sublime morning scenery to savour with that essential holiday lie-in.

Even the shower comes with mesmerising views, from a full-length window that faces right into the tree canopy, while a flushing loo means you won’t be compromising on modern conveniences.

Whip up romantic suppers in the well-equipped kitchen, or open a bottle of wine to enjoy with sunset snacks out on the deck.

The deck is also a fantastic spot for morning coffee soundtracked by birdsong, and you’ll find two yoga mats gainfully provided for saluting the sun in style! Your friendly hosts Joy and Nick are more than happy to arrange a session with a local yoga instructor, or even a relaxing massage, if you’re in need of a little extra pampering.

Bracken Treehouse is an adults-only retreat, which means you’ll have the perfect excuse to call in your favourite child and pet-sitters – which also means you get to explore the local area entirely at your leisure… that’s if you can tear yourselves away!

If you can manage it, you could start with a short stroll to the local farm, where you can stock up on fresh local produce. Or simply jump in the car to visit a plethora of friendly pubs and restaurants – ideal if you don’t feel like cooking.

You could also pack a tasty picnic and take a wander through the woodland, where you could spot everything from cheeky red squirrels and scurrying hare to grazing roe deer. Oh, and of course Dundee and St. Andrews are in ridiculously easy driving distance… although you may well decide that everything you need for a relaxed and memorable holiday can be found right here in Airdit Woods.

Things to note

Regrettably, pets cannot be permitted to stay as there are farm animals in the surrounding fields. The treehouse is also an adults-only retreat. Please note there is no Wi-Fi and limited mobile signal at the treehouse. The owners live 500m away, but there are no other buildings close by so you will have complete seclusion.
