The Woodman's Treehouse
Set deep in the heart of the Dorset Woodland lies this enchanting, skilfully crafted treehouse; a peaceful natural retreat under the forest canopy. For the ultimate romantic retreat, there's nothing more special than an escape to The Woodman's Treehouse. A RIBA award-winning design, this treetop utopia is like no other, complete with two sensational decks, a sauna and hot tub, exquisite furnishings throughout and uninterrupted views of enchanting Dorset woodland.
The Woodman's Treehouse fulfils every childhood dream of living in a treehouse - and then some. It's just one of the stunning sustainable places to stay at Crafty Camping, and you won't be surprised to learn it was featured on George Clarke's Amazing Spaces. No detail has gone unchecked, resulting in a totally luxurious, stylish and unforgettable escape for two in this perfectly peaceful tree canopy. And just to tick off every childhood fantasy, there's even a slide to bring you back down to earth again!
Whether you're curled up inside The Woodman's Treehouse or marvelling from below, you can't help but appreciate the expert design and craftsmanship that have gone into this incredible home. Built on long stilts and reaching in excess of 30ft high, the treehouse sits aloft among the branches of three oak trees, yet is not actually affixed to the trees themselves. This ensures no stress is placed on the trees in any way, and also preserves the delicate eco-system of this stunning woodland.
The Woodman's Treehouse is accessed via a private pier-like boardwalk, at the end of which you'll find an amazing scorched oak front door. With its vintage bronze porthole window and steam engine's steering wheel as a handle, it's rather like a submarine's airlock door - inviting you into the wonder and enchantment that waits behind it ...
Step inside to find yourself in an incredible circular living space, at the centre of which is a beautiful revolving woodburner. This ingenious addition means you can rotate the crackling fire to keep you warm whether you're curled up on a comfy leather armchair, cooking in the perfectly styled kitchen area, dining at the table for two, or lathering up in the gorgeous double-ended copper bath! Sleep soundly in the bespoke king-size bed, topped with crisp white linen and a snuggly throw, while an exquisite WC with flushing loo and a stunning hand basin show even necessities can be luxurious.
Even inside this treetop wonder, you can still appreciate the breath-taking views that surround you, thanks to the clever use of picture windows throughout. There's even a window above the bed (what a way to wake up in the morning!), as well as one in the floor looking down to the stream below.
And then of course there are those fantastic decks to enjoy, perfect for relaxing back, breathing in the smells and sounds around you, and feeling utterly at peace in your canopy kingdom. The large main deck comes fully equipped with not only a BBQ, but also a pizza oven for totally unforgettable alfresco dinners, after which you can truly unwind in the relaxing hammock nearby. You'll find a wonderfully unique open-air tree shower, with an endless supply of hot water and an unbeatable view all day long - and don't forget the stainless steel slide to satisfy every inner child!
The spiral staircase leads to a final surprise: the spa deck complete with a wonderful sauna and stunning copper hot tub. And, as with the rest of The Woodman's Treehouse, you have total seclusion and privacy to make the most of this hidden haven.
The Woodman's Treehouse is also perfectly placed for exploring not only the West Dorset countryside, but also stunning South Somerset and East Devon. You're just 4.2 miles from the market town of Axminster and 10 miles from ‘the pearl of Dorset', Lyme Regis. There's also much more on your doorstep, from picturesque villages to superb pubs and restaurants for romantic meals out.
In spite of this fantastic location, you may just want to spend every waking moment soaking up the glorious Woodman's Treehouse - and who could blame you? For that once-in-a-lifetime romantic retreat, it doesn't get better than this.
