From a romantic break for two, to a memorable retreat for four, The Windmill Suffolk promises utter indulgence, sublime scenery and the chance to unwind in this adults-only, beautifully converted windmill.
Although the building itself dates back to 1891, an incredible restoration blends the very best contemporary features with the historic fabric of the windmill. Enjoy light, airy interiors, lavish furnishings, and every creature comfort for a totally luxurious stay. And, with the magnificent POD on the fourth floor – one of the most unique living areas you’ll ever experience – this windmill comes with hidden treats you won’t forget in a hurry.
As you pull up at The Windmill Suffolk, you’ll be struck immediately by its stunning exterior – a modern finish on this iconic countryside structure, topped with an award-winning metallic roof. It’s a taste of what’s to come, as you’ll discover when you step into the welcoming lobby and through glass doors into the fabulous kitchen diner.
Fully fitted with an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and even a Nespresso coffee machine, you’ll find everything you need for preparing lazy brunches or sumptuous suppers, all to be enjoyed at the large oval dining table. On summer evenings, open the bi-fold doors to bring the outside in, or why not enjoy your meal in your private garden while the sun sets over rolling pastures?
There’s also a useful WC on the ground floor, and a handy washer-dryer in the kitchen area. However, there’s much more to explore upstairs, so take hold of the bespoke bannister and climb the sweeping curved staircase to the first floor. Here you’ll find the first of The Windmill Suffolk’s two bedrooms – a peaceful yet plush sanctuary, featuring a king-size bed topped with the very best linen and cosy throws. This room can also be configured as a twin room if you prefer.
On the second floor is the opulent bathroom, finished in marble and mosaic shell and featuring indulgent Elemis toiletries. Re-energise in the refreshing monsoon rain shower while you soak up uninterrupted views of the glorious Suffolk countryside, or unwind in the huge freestanding bath tub. Whatever your preference, both are big enough for two!
The second bedroom is on the third floor – another king-size room oozing contemporary comfort, and just perfect for dreaming sweetly with your loved one. However, the best floor is certainly saved till last, and that’s the astounding fourth-floor POD living space.

What the guests of The Windmill Suffolk say
“Truly outstanding! I took my wife here for a short stay for her birthday and we both can not stop talking about it to friends and family, The Windmill Suffolk is one very special place to stay. Even before we entered inside we were already amazed at this wonderful renovation just looking up from the driveway. Once inside the true attention to detail and quality can be seen on every single level. So many little luxuries like the Nespresso coffee machine, fluffy white robes and high end bath and shower products to name just a few. The owners have also carefully considered modern technology too with excellent WIFI, wide screen TV, music connection on every floor and ambient lightening throughout. The Windmill was spotlessly clean with extremely comfortable beds and and the biggest bath we have every seen! We met the owners Natalie and Steve who are lovely and gave us some excellent ideas on things to do locally. All in all we had a totally unforgettable stay here and can not praise it highly enough.”
“A last minute, pre-Christmas break in rural Suffolk unveiled one of the most luxurious properties we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail that has been put into place really puts The Windmill at a 5* rating. On the top floor there is a stunning lounge area which includes a TV, large sofas, a mini fridge, a balcony with seating and a telescope and chair for star gazing. This room provides a fantastic view of the surrounding Suffolk countryside. There is an outside garden area which would be fantastic during the summer months – we will return in the summer for a longer stay. Overall a truly fantastic and unique holiday retreat.”
“Just had the pleasure of staying the weekend in this wonderful and unique Windmill. What a place! The attention to detail is first class and interior design is only marginally surpassed by the incredible views you can see from the top suite. The perfect getaway for a relaxing retreat. The owners are warm and welcoming but not intrusive with butter and jam ready for your scones to enjoy in the deluxe kitchen, you can already guess you’ll have everything you will need!”
