A lovingly crafted, dog-friendly woodland retreat, deliciously secluded in a hidden corner of Scotland with a sandy beach just minutes away.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Although Secret Cabin can be reached from Edinburgh in under an hour, its peaceful location feels as though it’s worlds away from bustling city life.

That location is Seacliff, a relatively undiscovered corner of East Lothian that boasts some of the finest, freshest views in the country. Here you can relax and reconnect, blissfully undisturbed as you listen to the birds chirping in the woodland trees, watch grazing roe deer, and gaze up at the twinkling stars.

Fittingly, there’s no TV or Wi-Fi available in the irresistibly cosy cabin-for-two, which makes it the ideal retreat for a digital detox. You can bring the dog with you, too… and there’s a beautiful beach just two minutes’ walk away.

A great deal of love and care has gone into furnishing the cabin, and you’ll find plenty of comfort and warmth inside, along with the odd treat here and there!

There’s a cosy seating area set around a glowing wood-burning stove, and a fully fitted kitchen with everything you’ll need to whip up romantic suppers. You’ll also find fresh, locally roasted Steampunk coffee, and delicious pastries from the local bakery awaiting your arrival.

The bespoke-crafted double bed was created from wood washed up in a storm (how romantic!) and you’ll find it dressed in luxurious bedding, for a dreamy night’s sleep and a lazy lie-in.

When you finally manage to get out of bed, take care of morning freshen-ups in the spacious shower room – luxury toiletries and spa slippers included – and then why not head into the fairytale garden to savour a steaming mug of that fresh coffee?

More information

Sheltered by the woodland, you’ll feel like the only people in the world as you wander outside and pull up a comfy chair, surrounded by sweet-scented flora and fauna. The cabin was once owned by a stained-glass artist, so you’ll spot some of her unique and colourful creations glinting in the trellis, too.

How about a lazy meander to the beach next? Let the dog test their legs to exhaustion, as you gaze out towards the romantic ruins of Tantallon Castle and the Bass Rock, or indulge in a spot of paddleboarding or wild swimming.

There’s plenty of culture and activity to be found in the surrounding area too, including horse riding, farm cycling tracks, and a visit to the aforementioned Tantallon Castle, a captivating 14th century fortress with many stories to tell.

Fancy heading into civilisation? North Berwick is four miles away; a vibrant seaside town that’s packed with independent shops and places to eat.

However you decide to spend your time, that beautiful garden will be awaiting your return, as you fire up the barbecue and prepare a sizzling sunset supper that’s quite unlike any other.

Things to note
