Bespoke-crafted, adults-only hideaways, secluded on a scenic East Lothian farming estate that's within walking distance of Tantallon Castle and Seacliff Beach.
  • Sleeps: 2 per hut
  • Bedroom: 1 per hut
  • Bathroom: 1 per hut
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Aptly-named, Rock and Castle Escapes boast six unique, bespoke-crafted Estonian igluhuts for two. Each one is perfectly positioned to showcase incredible views of Bass Rock and the 14th century Tantallon Castle ruins, or the rolling Lammermuir Hills.

Their tranquil setting breathes with history itself; a picturesque Auldhame farm owned by a relative of the acclaimed novelist Robert Louis Stevenson, and one of the oldest farming families in East Lothian.

Perfect for a romantic escape with your loved one, each adults-only igluhut sleeps two guests. Crafted from spruce shingles and aspen to a 200-year-old design, the striking huts have been rigorously tested to withstand the punishing Nordic climate, so you’ll feel perfectly warm and snug inside.

There you’ll find facilities worthy of a luxury hotel suite, including a well-equipped kitchen, a downy kingsize bed, and a bathroom with a piping hot shower and plenty of storage.

Gaze out at those dreamy views whilst cradling a mug of coffee inside (if you’ve chosen an igluhut that faces Bass Rock and Tantallon Castle, you’ll be gazing through an extra-large window), or wander out to your furnished deck, and immerse yourselves in the blissful rural atmosphere.

What to do once you’ve settled in? It could be that indulging in a glass of wine and good conversation – or a good book! – is what tempts you the most… and with surroundings as sumptuous as these, who could blame you?

If you decide to explore, Seacliff Beach is part of the vast farming estate. A private and unspoilt space characterised by red sandstone cliffs and the UK’s smallest harbour, this is the perfect spot for a romantic, windswept stroll.

Or how about heading for Tantallon Castle, one of the last grand medieval fortresses, and viewing its breath-taking curtain wall up close? Savour magnificent views over the North Sea, and take in crucial pieces of history, such as the replica gun in the east tower – an exact copy of those used to defend against James IV and V.

“Great place easy to find as it’s on the main road into the town. Cosy and warm even on the windy days. Comfy bed and spotless throughout. Lisa was easy to contact if needed, but we were left to do as we pleased. A brilliant stay perfect for exploring the coast nearby.”

“We stayed at Lisa’s cabin for 2 nights to have a weekend in North Berwick. The accommodation was amazing and felt so cosy, and the location couldn’t have been better. Such nice little touches too. Would definitely recommend!”
