The Pink Cottage
England / Weston-under-Lizard, Shropshire
Full description
An idyllic country retreat, magically secluded amongst 1,000 acres of Capability Brown parkland in the heart of a private Shropshire estate.
A haven of fairytale beauty and tranquillity, Shropshire's historic Weston Park estate is famous for its 1,000 immaculate acres of Capability Brown parkland.
Set within the vast estate, Temple Wood was specifically designed by Brown, ‘England's Greatest Gardener' himself, as a soothing retreat for the Bridgeman family. And it's here, in a wildlife-steeped clearing, that you'll discover the idyllic Pink Cottage.
Lady Bridgeman, a vibrant 18th century socialite, spent a great deal of time at her beloved cottage, writing copious letters and relaxing with friends.
Fast-forward to the 21st century, when you and your loved one can pass blissful idle time at the woodland cottage yourselves, as you switch off from hectic daily life in the loveliest possible way!
Your gloriously relaxed accommodation is generously spaced across one floor, with soft, sumptuous décor and furnishings that have been designed to soothe every sense.
The lounge is full of comfort, with a squishy sofa and a love seat soothingly placed around a wood-burning stove, and glass doors that open straight into your stunning private garden (there's also a Freeview TV on hand for cosy evenings in!)
You'll find the large kitchen well equipped with all the mod cons you'll need to whip up many a romantic supper... and you'll be greeted by a goodie-stuffed welcome hamper, to help get your stay off to a delicious start. If you don't feel like cooking, the on-site Granary Brasserie will happily prepare a fresh in-cottage meal for you, too - just ask.
On lazy summer afternoons, simply open a chilled bottle of wine, and while away some time chatting on the patio, or grab a sun lounger and get lost in the pages of that book you never quite find the time to read at home.
When you're all talked and dined out, you'll find the bedroom suitably equipped with oak furniture and chunky rugs, to aid your blissful journey into a sound night's sleep. Freshen up in the indulgent en-suite bathroom, with its rainforest shower, and its freestanding bath placed in front of an enthralling Weston Park mural.
What else to do? Well, you could take a gentle stroll into the woodland, and see what wildlife you can spot, or take a longer walk and climb The Wrekin, a locally famous hill with an Iron Age fort on its summit.
Since you're on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border, there's plenty to explore, from the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, to the shoppers' paradise city of Chester.
Head to nearby Ludlow for award-winning Michelin restaurants, or simply stay put on site, and let the charms of Pink Cottage and its magical surroundings captivate your senses.
Things to note
Minimum 3-night stay. Children and pets are not permitted. Please note that the estate is home to five additional holiday properties, including the main house.
