The Little Retreat
Wales / Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire
Full description
A mind, body and soul-soothing escape in a historic Welsh village that breathes with nature, set within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
A magical sanctuary for weary souls, The Little Retreat specialises in restorative, wellbeing-focused escapes that re-introduce you to all the charm and beauty of nature.
The location certainly couldn't be more breath-taking if it tried. Set within the UK's only coastal National Park, the Pembrokeshire village of Lawrenny breathes with both ancient history and diverse wildlife.
Secluded in a walled garden on the village's old castle site, The Little Retreat features acres of untouched woodland, and is bordered by the vast, shimmering River Cleddau... to help you feel magically transported to your own slice of natural paradise.
(To help this magical part of the world retain its immense natural beauty, The Little Retreat is licensed by the Woodlands Champions Club, with a new tree planted for every booking.)
Choose your dreamy accommodation from a selection of luxury domes, stargazing tents or during the summer months, spacious bell tents.
Beautifully furnished for a couple or family, each dome is equipped with a downy superking bed with two singles beds that can be added, a wood-burner, and private kitchen and bathroom facilities.
(There's even a Smart TV and Wi-Fi... though we've got a feeling you'll much prefer relaxing in your wood-fired hot tub, or picking herbs from the potting shed garden.)
The stargazers and bell tents, meanwhile, are ideal for a refreshing back-to-basics camping experience, each sleeping up to five guests. Conveniently equipped with a private portaloo - two of the pitches even boast their own private shower - you can savour views of the Cleddau Estuary as you cradle your morning coffee, with a gentle soundtrack of joyous birdsong.
What to do with your time? Well, you could always ramble through the site's twelve acres of ancient woodland, discovering secret nooks and waterways as you go. Or simply while away some time in the local pub or café, just five minutes' walk away.
There are plenty of wellbeing treats and activities to discover if you're staying on site, too - from sunrise art classes and open water swimming in the Cleddau river, to foraging-and-feasting trips.
Bespoke activity retreats (with delicious locally sourced meals included!) are held throughout the year, and the friendly owners are always happy to create a tailored escape, just for you.
But if all you want to do is relax and unwind amongst the beauty of nature... perhaps with a stargazing dip in that wood-fired hot tub, then that's perfectly alright, too!
Things to note
Bespoke retreats are held throughout the year, and the owners are happy to help you create your own personally tailored escape. Please bring your own linen and towels if booking a bell tent. Lots of dog-friendly accommodation options.
