River Camping Bled
Slovenia / Bled, Upper Carniola
Full description
A refreshing, eco-and-family-friendly retreat amongst nature at its most magical, surrounded by Slovenia's breathtaking Julian Alps.
With its majestic mountain peaks, rushing blue-green rivers, and acres of ancient, whispering trees, Slovenia's Julian Alps boasts the kind of enchanting scenery that storybooks are made of.
It's here that you'll discover River Camping Bled, a heart-warmingly friendly, family-run site that promises to introduce you to the very best that nature has to offer.
Close to the achingly picturesque Lake Bled, you'll be surrounded by spectacular mountain-and-river views that'll have you reaching for your camera phone just as soon as you arrive. That is, if you're not jumping straight into the Sava River for an invigorating dip!
Sleeping up to seven guests (5 adults and 2 children under 12), your spacious Alpine cottage comes equipped with everything you'll need for a natureful break...including a large, shaded terrace for everybody to relax on. Amongst the uniique range of cottages on offer are the sensational looking Mirror Cottages, and the spherical Forest Globes - truly wow!
Inside there's a comfortable, air-conditioned living space with a separate dining area, a fully-equipped kitchen (complete with those holiday essentials, including a dishwasher and a microwave!), two cosy bedrooms, and that all-important private bathroom. Well, who said living in the Great Outdoors meant having to rough it?
Two of the cottages are dog-friendly, meaning your best four-legged friend needn't miss out on all that open space and pure, fresh air. Oh, and if you're in an indulgent kind of mood, you can even arrange to have breakfast delivered straight to you each morning.
What could be better? Well, how about all the activities on offer! First off, you'll find just about every convenience more than covered on site, from the friendly bar and restaurant, to the delicacy-packed mini-market. Not to mention the heated swimming pool that perfectly caters for those cooler days.
There are plenty of ways for the kids to burn off some energy, too, including a selection of themed games, a purpose-built children's playground, and exhilarating, cheer-filled cycle races along the pump track. Not into cycling? Try your hand at kayaking, or even climbing the mighty Stol, a scenic mountain that straddles the border between Slovenia and Austria.
When you're finally ready to unwind, grab a book and shade yourself under the hundred-year-old pines, or head for the communal hangout, a calming room in which you can indulge in a spot of yoga, make new friends, or just sit back and chat the day's activities away.
Later on, you can take a meandering evening walk along the softly lit footpaths that wind around the camp, finishing your day with delicious roasted corn around the flickering bonfire.
As the stars appear in that vast night sky, you're sure to hug yourself with joy...because you'll get to experience all this natural luxury again tomorrow!
Things to note
Bikes and sporting equipment can be hired if needed. Two of the cottages are dog-friendly; dogs are permitted by prior arrangement and for a small additional fee.
