There’s a unique sensory charm to Näsets Marcusgård, a soothing Swedish family farm that was originally founded in 1910.
Surrounded by pine-covered forest land that’s fresh out of a magical Scandinavian fairytale, this is a dreamlike setting that’s rich in earthy, natural beauty. Glistening cobwebs and shimmering ice crystals will captivate your attention in autumn and winter, while midnight sunshine and colourful flowers promise to brighten the summer months.
All that’s left for you to do is choose from four privately secluded, out-of-the-ordinary places to stay. Each one features a beautiful forest view (who knows, maybe you’ll also catch sight of the resident moose, deer, or lynx, too), and plenty of wide-open space.
The Supermåne (Swedish for ‘supermoon’) is an off-grid, bespoke-crafted treehouse for two, plus a young child. Nestled three metres high, between two sweet-scented pines, there’s a cosy wood-burning stove to warm your toes by evening, and a gorgeous dome window to gaze at the starry sky – you may even catch sight of the Northern Lights, if you’re lucky!
How about something a little quirkier? Oddis Öga – Swedish for ‘eye of the oddity’ – fits the bill perfectly. Set on a hill, this circular, off-grid bolthole for four cleverly resembles both an aircraft cabin and a spaceship, and you’ll find plenty of ‘lookout’ windows for you to keep an eye on those mesmerising meadow views.
If you prefer something a little more traditional, the Hölada (‘haybarn’) is an elegantly rustic three-bedroomed apartment for six guests, complete with TV and DVD player, and an electric stove for cooking.
Last but not least, the Fähus (‘byre’) is a luxurious space for up to eight guests, directly overlooking the forest and equipped with plenty of mod cons, including a Bluetooth sound system, a huge shower, and a separate laundry room.

More information
What to do with your time? You could always curl up with a mug of fresh coffee and a good book, of course, but if you prefer getting out and about there’s plenty to do on the farm. Splash around in the swimming pool, or let the kids run wild and free in the playground, complete with swings and a trampoline.
Meanwhile, the many excursions on offer include dogsledding, and a torchlight walk through the woods, rewarded with a Swedish ‘fika’ (otherwise known as a cosy coffee break) in the mouth-watering village bakery. Take part in a cinnamon bun baking workshop if you’d rather create your own rewards, or how about a guided walk in the midnight sun, instead?
If you’d rather do your own thing, you can hire showshoes, mountain bikes and ski equipment – all perfect excuses to get up close and personal with the local area under your own steam, in a holiday that promises to spark plenty of natural magic.
Things to note
Stays at Supermåne and Oddis Öga include breakfast each morning, with shared facilities housed at the Hölada or the Fähus during the winter months. During the summer you use the outdoor kitchen and the comfortable temporary bathroom facilities. Pets and smoking are not permitted in any accommodation.
