Moat Island Glamping
England / Haveringland, Norfolk
Full description
Whimsical, luxurious glamping accommodation with generous facilities and a natural swimming pond, enchantingly secluded within the moat of a rural Norfolk estate.
Surrounded by idyllic Norfolk countryside, Moat Island occupies a fairytale location: within the wild moat of a former medieval hall on the Haveringland Hall Estate.
Boasting eclectic, magical accommodation to suit families, friends, and groups, you can also jump from a hand-crafted jetty, straight into the shimmering natural swimming pond, filled with native plants and dragonflies that flit past as you take those lazy afternoon laps.
Haveringland Castle, a unique, imaginative, and luxurious castle-hut-on-wheels complete with turret, is the ideal choice for a break that makes you feel royally pampered!
Sleeping up to five guests, the ‘castle' is beautifully secluded amongst woodland and sweet-scented fruit trees, with kitchen facilities provided. Feast on that home-cooked banquet in your very own tower under the stars, surrounded by soft-twinkling fairy lights, while a crackling wood-burner will keep you perfectly toasty on cool evenings.
Also sleeping up to five guests is the enchanting Cabin by the Dell, a beautifully crafted wooden haven with modern kitchen facilities, cosy furnishings, and a covered terrace for morning coffee and evening cocktails.
During the summer months, any extra cabin guests can pitch up in a roomy on-site bell tent... simply bring your own sleeping bags, and you're away!
If you prefer glamping under canvas yourselves, there are four spacious, furnished Lotus Belle tents to choose from. Each comes complete with a kingsize bed, a double futon sofa bed, and a single bed, all dressed with fresh cotton sheets and pillowcases.
These are no ordinary tents... not only do they feature lighting and electricity, but there's a woodburner for toasty evenings in, and a firepit for marshmallow toasting under the stars.
But if you're worried about missing out on that star-studded canvas once you've headed back inside, don't! Simply choose a Stargazer, with transparent roof panels that allow you to keep an eye on the ever-changing sky, even as you snuggle up in that downy bed.
(You can also "perfect the art of cloud-watching" by day, as The Times recently put it.)
A small selection of unfurnished tents - including a Stargazer - also mean you can bring your own bedding along for a refreshingly simple, back-to-basics camping experience... the choice is completely yours.
What about facilities, you may ask? Eco-friendly options include compost loos near each tent and cabin, and there's also a deluxe shower block and camp kitchen, expertly crafted from the overgrown Christmas trees that once dotted the site.
With every holiday need covered, you can feel free to take a dip in that sun-dappled natural pond, or spend your time exploring the many natural delights that Norfolk is famous for... from long, golden beaches to restaurants serving mouth-watering local produce.
Things to note
4 night minimum stay during peak times, 2 nights during off-peak at weekends and single nights mid-week. Entire site-hire is available on request. Larger groups can book the Cabin and Castle together, with an unfurnished bell tent for extra guests in summer.
