It’s not often you get to see a traditional Norfolk roundhouse, let alone stay in one! Luckily, your chance has arrived…

The Hermanus is a popular holiday park near Winterton-on-Sea, on Norfolk’s east coast.  With beautiful sea views, undulating sand dunes and a friendly, family atmosphere, it’s no surprise that some visitors have returned for 20 years and counting!  The park offers a range of accommodation, including bungalows and chalets, but its roundhouses are undoubtedly the most unique holiday homes on offer.

With their amazing thatched roofs and soft pastel exteriors of yellow, green, pink and blue, the roundhouses appear as if from a storybook.  A white front door and windows either side, coupled with the conical roof, give a characterful appearance – a warm welcome on your arrival or your return.

Although the exterior is a blast from the Norfolk past, the interiors have been fully modernised, refurbished and tastefully decorated to afford the most comfortable stay. Double glazing and central heating keep you toasty all year round, and both the lounge and bedroom have their own flat-screen, wall-mounted TVs.

Self-catering in your roundhouse is as easy as could be, with a fully-fitted kitchen complete with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge.  There’s also everything you’ll need in terms of crockery and cutlery, as well as a dining table to enjoy your meal!

There are two styles of roundhouse available, depending on how much space you need.  The 13 deluxe roundhouses sleep two in a comfortable double bed.  Five of these are also pet-friendly, so bring your four-legged friend along for the fun! The bathroom has a convenient walk-in shower for added ease.

If you’re visiting with a family and need a bit more space, opt for one of the three double roundhouses instead.  As the name suggests, this consists of two roundhouses fashioned together for twice the space and twice the charm, as the owners say!   One side houses a spacious lounge and kitchen area, and the bathroom.  In the other half, you’ll find the bedrooms – a large double room and one twin room, sleeping four in total.  Whichever variety you choose, you can guarantee the same level of comfort and high-quality finish.

There is a popular family lounge area for guests to enjoy, offering a warm, relaxed atmosphere and home cooking using locally sourced ingredients. The main building, including the Coach & Horses bar and family lounge close annually for the winter season and re-open in Spring.

Work off your meal on the expansive sandy beaches, where you may even encounter the seal colony that ‘lives’ a little north of The Hermanus!
