Sedgemore is designed for holidays that take you gently back in time: a classic wooden cruiser from the 1950s, charmingly restored for nostalgic holidays on the Norfolk Broads.
You’ll find her moored at Eastwood Whelpton Sailing Holidays, a working heritage boatyard, where she was brought so beautifully back to life. Step on board and feel immediately soothed by varnished wood, Art Deco lighting, thoughtfully-chosen accessories, and cosy furnishings in burnt orange and kingfisher blue – a perfect complement to the shimmering water.
Ideal for a family, up to five guests can be accommodated aboard Sedgemore, with a double and single berth housed in the main saloon, and two comfy single berths at the front, where you’ll also find an en-suite shower room.
The main galley is home to a well-equipped kitchen, not to mention a welcome hamper packed with local goodies to help get your stay off to a delicious start. Why not treat yourselves to a few extras – such as a bottle of Norfolk fizz – to celebrate your first evening on board?
You’ll also find everything has been provided for you to sit back, relax and enjoy your holiday, from lifejackets and a tank of drinking water, to bedding, a ‘Boaties’ frying pan and that all-important corkscrew! You will even have your own rowing boat throughout your stay, for exploring the local waterways ‘Swallows and Amazons’ style!
Even more extra touches are added once autumn arrives, including hot water bottles, cosy blankets and hot chocolate with marshmallows and squirty cream!
Rather wonderfully, how you’ll spend the rest of your time is completely up to you. Versatile options include taking Sedgemore out for a cruising holiday on the Norfolk Broads, or simply using her as a static base to enjoy the abundant nature and wildlife, with additional options including skippered morning or day sails. You could even add a picnic lunch or afternoon tea hamper, to give the experience a little extra flavour.

More information
If you’re staying put, there’s plenty to enthral at Eastwood Whelpton, with its friendly team and beloved collection of wooden boats and yachts-for-hire, some of which are over 100 years old. And as a Royal Yachting Association Training Centre, there’s always someone on hand should you be tempted to try a skippered sail for the day.
Generous on-site facilities include a car park, showers and toilets, and even a small campsite that overlooks the Norfolk Broads Marshes. If you’d rather not make it yourself, grab that first coffee of the day from The Anchor, a pop-up horsebox that also sells delicious locally-made cakes, goodies, and ice-cream for sunny afternoons.
Take long walks in nature, or head into the village to stock up on supplies from the community shop. If you’re staying awhile, there’s a community-run pub to hole yourselves up in, too. Perhaps you’ll visit on a quiz night or music evening, and get to know some of the locals… a perfect way to end another perfect day on Sedgemore.
