You might imagine the canals of Venice when you think of the word ‘gondola’, but it’s also a word that’s used to describe a cable car.

And when you think of a cable car, you might imagine one soaring over the Alps. Yet you’ll find Gondel Gisela cosily grounded on a friendly site in the heart of Germany’s iconic Black Forest, for a romantic, relaxing, and uniquely remarkable retreat.

The Black Forest Camp itself is quietly located right on the shimmering Schluchsee, the largest lake in the region, and the highest reservoir in Germany. Not only is the scenery guaranteed to be mesmerisingly beautiful, but you’ll also get to indulge in adventurous outdoor activities and watersports galore!

Gondel Gisela herself was once part of a ski lift in a popular French resort. These days, you’ll find her creatively re-imagined to provide off-grid comfort, and gently elevated on a platform in one of the highest points of the camp… so you can savour those spectacular Black Forest views all day long.

Inside awaits an oval-shaped double bed that’s ideal for lazy lie-ins (just bring some snuggly blankets, and you’re all set), while the al fresco area is perfect for morning coffee-with-a-view.

Basic cooking equipment is provided, though if you’d rather not whip up breakfast yourselves, the nearby See-Café is on hand to serve you a delicious start to the day instead!

There’s also a bakery in the village, serving mouth-watering fresh bread and warm rolls, and plenty of opportunities to stock up on essentials in the local shops. Although you’ll feel miles from civilisation, there’s a bustling market just ten minutes’ walk away.
