Full description
Tranquility amongst the sweet-scented olive groves in a stylishly unique, domed eco house set in nature-and-culture-steeped Catalonia.

A holiday home quite unlike any other, you'll find Casa Cova Blanca nestled within an agricultural terrace in Tivenys, on elevated ground set along the breathtaking Iberian peninsula in southern Catalonia.

Exquisitely arched, exceptionally stylish and featuring grand high ceilings throughout, this sustainable and beautiful underground holiday home blends perfectly with its soothing natural surroundings, providing outstanding views over nine acres of olive groves, with the striking Els Ports mountains in the distance.

Sleeping up to four people in two bedrooms, you can relax in the knowledge that your carbon footprint will be significantly reduced during your stay here! Solar energy provides plenty of power, while the home's unique setting ensures you'll naturally be kept cool in summer and warm in winter.

Three stunning arches, complete with wood and steel shutters, will lead your way into the house, allowing both amazing views, and daylight to flood inside for a wonderfully warm welcome.

High, gently curved ceilings are set off by clean-lined décor, coloured lighting, striking design touches and upcycled furnishings, displaying the distinctive structure of the building to its very best effect. Relax in the cosy open-plan living room, complete with comfy seating, a wood burning stove, and shelves lined with browse-worthy books. Bright white décor with flashes of bold turquoise provide the perfect background mood.

The well-equipped kitchen and dining area is bright and airy, featuring oak-panelled concrete worktops and light wells. The scene is well and truly set for many a catch-up over a traditional Catalonian lunch at the hand-made elm table, as you sip wine and look out over the olive groves.

Later on, follow an elegant parade of arches to discover two relaxing bedrooms, dressed in calming colours and furnished for cosy tranquility (not to mention lazy lie-ins!) The spacious bathroom is both rustic and indulgent in design, featuring a sink made from an upturned washer drum.

Why not fire up the built-in barbecue, refresh that wine glass, and claim your spot underneath one of the many ancient, twisting olive trees as you savour the sweet scents of native thyme, lavender and juniper, not to mention the sizzling aroma of dinner cooking? Two thoughtfully-provided hammocks provide the perfect siesta-spot should you feel so inclined, while an outdoor dining area is perfectly positioned for you to enjoy those blazing orange sunsets.

By day, why not indulge in a little wildlife-watching? Simply follow the dirt track from the house, past the farm and onto the invigorating Cardò Boix mountain range. If you prefer four wheels to two feet, a short drive will take you to the rushing River Ebro, while cyclists will adore the many scenic routes all around.

The culture-rich village of Tivenys itself is the ideal setting to immerse yourselves in the authentic charm of Catalonia, as you enjoy tapas and indulge in traditional fiestas, surrounded by friendly locals. For beach lovers, the golden sands of nearby Costa Dorada and L'Ampolla are all you need to drift away on a sea of relaxation! Or how about a spot of wild swimming, in the sumptuous limestone gorges of Puerto de Beceite?

Finish that swim, enjoy that last bite of tapas, then head on home to Casa Cova Blanca for a catch-up and a glass of wine as the first stars appear in the calm night sky. And relax...your escape from hectic daily life has only just begun.
