Trelan Farm Wonder Wagon
Wales / Cilcain, Flintshire
Full description
A creatively upcycled boutique retreat with a scenery-showcasing outdoor bath, surrounded by idyllic North Wales countryside that's perfect for bracing walks.
Trelan Farm is a working beef and sheep farm nestled at the foothills of Moel Famau, part of a designated North Wales Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that's popular with keen walkers and hikers.
It's amongst the farm's 150 scenic acres that you'll discover The Wonder Wagon, a former trailer that was once a faithful part of the fleet at the local steel works.
The farm's friendly owners are huge fans of creative recycling, so they asked a family friend - along with a sustainable interior design brand - to help them convert the trailer into a sumptuous retreat for two... somewhere guests could switch off and feel connected with the surrounding countryside.
The result is a soothing haven of natural materials, muted tones, and soft lighting that promise to relax you instantly.
Steeped in imagination and creative design, you'll find whisky barrel planters outside, with decking created from scaffolding boards, and a gorgeous, sheltered al fresco bath with hand-made taps, and a ready supply of bubble bath!
Inside awaits a calming space that reflects your natural surroundings, with plenty of squishy seating that's perfect for curling up with your loved one (or a good book, whichever you prefer.)
Large windows and double French doors showcase views of the farm and its animal residents - whom you're more than welcome to meet on a friendly farm tour - yet you'll also find linen blackout blinds to ensure generous helpings of privacy and rest.
Facilities-wise, the gleaming kitchen area comes equipped with everything you'll need to whip up rustic feasts, with a gas oven and hob, a fridge freezer, and all the pots, pans, crockery, utensils, and condiments you could want.
Enjoy the results of your culinary labour at the comfy dining area, or on sunny evenings, why not fire up the barbecue for an sizzling sunset supper, instead?
After a long day of walking, sightseeing, or reading and relaxing, the downy double bedroom will be waiting, with an extra-comfort mattress topper to help you drift off into a sound night's sleep. There's an en-suite shower room, too, complete with a flushing loo, a power shower, and a stack of fluffy towels.
If you feel like getting out and about, you're perfectly placed to visit the local market towns of Ruthin and Mold, or perhaps do some shopping in the ancient walled city of Chester. The spectacular North Wales coastline is just half an hour away by car, and it's an hour to Snowdon National Park and its wealth of natural attractions.
All that's left to do is finish your day with a stargazing soak in that indulgent outdoor bathtub, and make your break complete!
Things to note
Check in between 3pm - 9pm, check out by 10:30am. Trelan Farm is a working beef and sheep farm, so regrettably pets are not permitted. One night stays may be possible if space remains - please email for details.
