The Hedgerow
England / Wainhill, Oxfordshire
Full description
An award-winning, dog-friendly timber lodge, beautifully positioned in idyllic Chilterns countryside with direct access to the Ridgeway National Trail.
The proud winner of a Gold Award in the 2020 Beautiful South Tourism Awards, The Hedgerow at Wainhill is a dream-like, dog-friendly lodge retreat for two, newly constructed in 2019, and soothingly positioned in the heart of The Chilterns.
Although it'll be easy to feel as though you've secluded yourselves deliciously away from the rest of the world, you'll enjoy direct access to (and stunning views of) The Ridgeway National Trail, while the picturesque market town of Thame is a mere ten minutes away by car.
Furnished to an exceptionally high standard, the timber lodge itself is fully detached, peacefully decorated in soft, muted tones, and equipped with everything you'll need for a cosy and indulgent break.
High-end luxuries include ultra-fast broadband, and a digital flatscreen Smart TV to keep you connected and entertained... though of course, you're just as welcome to switch yourselves off completely, and relish those magnificent rural surroundings!
Meanwhile, you'll find your kingsize Hypnos bed sumptuously dressed in fresh linen, and there's a deluxe shower cabin stocked with complimentary Ermana organic toiletries, and plenty of fluffy towels.
Kitchen-wise, you'll find plenty of conveniences that make holiday life easier, such as a microwave and a dishwasher, along with a ready supply of hot drinks, and complimentary local treats that include apple chutney and cold-pressed oil.
While away some idle time in your sweet-scented private garden - the perfect place for a long, lazy al fresco supper. Or for a change of scenery, why not grab a good book, and relax in the cheerful on-site vintage caravan known as Alice? Quirky and fun, she makes an ideal ‘summer room'!
You may decide not to stray too far from your heavenly retreat, but if you do, you'll soon find you're in a wonderful base from which to explore. Simply head through the back gates to access the aforementioned Ridgeway National Trail, along with many more country footpaths that promise to test your energy levels, and your footwear!
If you miss the bustle of the city, you can reach central Oxford in around half an hour, with Henley and Marlow also in easy reach.
As if all that wasn't quite enough, there's a mesmerising array of National Trust properties to get to know, and with several acclaimed restaurants in the local area, including The Hand and Flowers and Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, you won't be at a loss for a suitable somewhere to celebrate that special occasion.
Yet you may feel that unwinding at your idyllic lodge does the job quite nicely on its own, as you pour a refreshing gin and tonic, and savour another awe-inspiring sunset.
Things to note
One well-behaved dog is welcome by prior agreement at a small additional charge, with a bed, bowl, towel and home-made dog treats provided. Please keep your dog on a lead outside the gardens. Please note that Alice the vintage caravan is not additional accommodation and should be used as a ‘summer room' only.
