There’s a certain kind of pedigree to Woodland Escapes. Featured in the Daily Mirror’s Top Ten Glamping Sites, and included on the BBC show Escape to the Country, you can be sure that this is far from an everyday countryside retreat.

Set amongst 45 birdsong-filled, flower-strewn acres of Shropshire countryside that’s teeming with wildlife, you can enjoy panoramic views over six counties from your chosen luxury dome – one sleeping a family of four, and the other ideal for two.

Both domes are equipped with all the comforts you might expect from a deluxe hotel room, including downy beds with plump pillows, and a private bathroom with a piping hot shower (and that all-important flushing toilet).

Perfect for families who want to get back to nature in style, Star Dome is nestled in a private wooded glade that’s reminiscent of a fairytale. There’s a stargazing window for you to enjoy that ever-changing sky in all its glory, a dining table and chairs, and a natural fire to warm your evenings.

When it’s time to turn in, you’ll find a dreamy kingsize bed that’s made for lazy lie-ins, while the kitchenette is ideal for whipping up tasty snacks. Oh – and there’s a barbecue for al fresco dining, too (a must!)

For an extra treat, why not pop open a glass of bubbles and greet the sunset with a dip in the Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub?

Discover the wildly romantic Tree Dome on an elevated platform, secluded under a whispering canopy of trees. If you’re a lover of all things culinary, you’re in luck – once you’ve cooked in the hand-crafted wood-fired oven, there’ll be no going back!

Dog-friendly and sleeping up to four guests – two adults and two children – Mountain View Lodge also boasts a contemporary open-plan design, and a wraparound deck that offers panoramic views of over eight counties! Savour those views from your dedicated outdoor breakfast area, then fire up the clay pizza oven later on, or add a dip in the Scandinavian spa hydro wood-fired hot tub as an extra-special treat (glass of bubbles optional).

Last but by no means least is the Star Gazing Treehouse, where you can sleep amidst a private glade under the canopy and experience a real connection to nature in a beautifully appointed tree cabin with a wrap-around deck, for full appreciation of the gorgeous environment.

Inside, a comfy L-shaped sofa and wood-burning stove add to the country cabin feel, and it can comfortably accommodate four guests aged twelve upwards in a king master bedroom and separate loft bedroom. Don’t forget to use the telescope for those all-important star-spotting nights under clear skies.

In the mood to explore? Just six miles away lies Ludlow, the “loveliest town in England”, filled with listed buildings and tempting riverside cafés. If you’ve brought the kids along, nearby Worcestershire is home to the famous West Midlands Safari Park, while Mortimer Forest and the Clee Hills are ideal if you prefer something a little more active, with plenty of scope for invigorating walks and cycle rides.

Head back to Woodland Escapes just in time to gather round the camp fire for marshmallow toasting, catching up on life and love as the first stars appear in the evening sky.

What the guests of Woodland Escapes say

“I would choose to stay here over any 5* hotel in London any day of the week…..just what we needed when life had gotten a little too much. A night in the hot tub listening to the birds and the views was our highlight. Thank you Fern, we will be back.”

“Sat in the tub with a G&T then sat on the decking watching the stars come out one by one then slept in the comfort in the dome…MAGICAL! If this is camping then sign me up for LIFE MEMBERSHIP!”

“We felt like royalty…amazing place. The Tree Dome is just like the photos – but even better in real life. All the luxurious touches like the sofa, the huge dining room table and throws make it really special. Love the idea of the shower being elevated in the trees and the ‘tree house feel’ of the kitchen and bathroom. Once we had figured out how to use the pizza oven (our fault for not reading the instructions properly!) we loved our home made pizzas and sitting on the sofas outside listening to the birds. The hot tub was a truly magical experience and the lights and bubbles are a great add on. We are going away really relaxed – we feel like royalty in the tree dome and can’t wait to return. Thank you Penny and Fern for this amazing place, see you next year!”
