Lovingly constructed almost entirely by hand back in the 1980s, White Cliffs Underground Motel is a vast subterranean complex, set amongst the impossibly scenic, awe-inspiring Australian outback. 

Nestled into ‘Poor Man’s Hill’ (so-called due to its lack of opal), the retreat boasts a wide selection of cosy couples and family rooms, known as ‘dugouts’.  

Not only is each dugout completely unique from the rest, but with no radio or mobile coverage, and no TV, you’ll find it easy to disconnect from modern life’s everyday niggles.

To respect the tranquility of underground living, you’ll find most of the motel’s facilities on the edge. These include a swimming pool that showcases fabulous views over the landscape, a games room, and a history and culture centre that tells the fascinating story of White Cliffs.
