A stylish, dog-friendly retreat at the foot of a former lighthouse, rich in historic tales and mesmerisingly positioned in atmospheric, wildlife-steeped Dungeness.
  • Sleeps: 4
  • Bedrooms: 2
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Teeming with rare and diverse wildlife, Dungeness is a designated nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest that’s a must-visit for lovers of both the natural world and unusual, awe-inspiring scenery.

West Cottage is a former lighthouse-keeper’s cottage, set at the foot of what was once the base of the original Dungeness lighthouse itself. Infused with fascinating history, it’s hard to imagine a better retreat from which to savour all that’s so special about this unique part of the world.

Sleeping up to four guests, the cottage is ideal for a small-family break, and since you can also bring your faithful four-legged friend, nobody has to feel left out of the holiday fun.

Boasting expansive views across the enthralling landscape and the shingle beach beyond, there’s plenty to feast your eyes upon, whether you’re gazing out of the double-aspect windows, or relaxing al fresco.

When the weather turns chilly, simply light the wood-burning stove to feel ridiculously cosy… yes, there’s a Smart TV to watch, but be warned: you may find yourselves constantly distracted by scenes of that ever-changing landscape, instead!

Break bread all together in the spacious dining room, with its exquisite ornamental fireplace and comfy seating. You’ll find the kitchen fabulously equipped for feasts of all descriptions, and there’s even a dishwasher to help with the clearing-up afterwards.

All that’s left to do is put the kids to bed in the cosy twin room (which can also be configured as a kingsize for grown-ups!), pour another glass of wine, and chat the evening away without a care in the world!
