Nestled in the unspoilt Maremman countryside, amongst the olive groves of Poggio La Forcola, you will find eight very special lodges, all named after the Pleiades, the mythical sisters who guided sailors to safety (Vedetta is Italian for “look-out”).

As you might expect, each of the eight lodges come complete with glorious views. Three overlook the charming medieval town of Scarlino, with a panoramic vista that takes in lush forest and country land, while the remaining five will lead your gaze to the sparkling sea, with views stretching out to Elba and Corsica.

At 50 square metres, each lodge is wonderfully spacious, and infused with the kind of luxury you might expect from a hotel suite. Stylishly and lovingly decorated, you will find everything you need to relax and enjoy a holiday in the Great Outdoors, while still indulging in all the cosy creature comforts  of the Great Indoors – not to mention warm and welcoming hospitality from your hosts.

Take advantage of lazy mornings in your gloriously roomy bed, dressed in fresh linen and soft feather pillows, and with those refreshing country views visible as soon as you open your eyes.

Enjoy fresh coffee on the furnished veranda, and set yourself up for the day with breakfast served under the porch at the Vedetta Relais just 50 metres from the lodges with sea views. Other mouth-watering meals are also served here, all surrounded by those dreamy Mediterranean sights and scents of shrubland and olives.

You’ll find a well-stocked mini bar inside your lodge, along with heating and air conditioning for optimum comfort. And if all those country and sea views aren’t too distracting, a 32″ HD TV and WiFi means you can catch up on your favourite shows and update Instagram to your heart’s content!

There won’t be any midnight queues for the loo here, either – as each lodge comes complete with its own luxurious en-suite, featuring a roomy glass shower cabin and toiletries.

With so much lazy luxury close to hand, you won’t want to travel very far by day – so it’s a good thing you won’t have to! There is plenty to feast your eyes upon all around, in this stunning region of Italy that is still relatively unspoilt. To start with, the shaded park is the perfect place to take your four-legged friend for a well-deserved run!

Take a short stroll to the white sandy beach of Carbonifera, with its clear water and artificial reef, stretch out your towel and start that book you’ve been longing to read. If you’re feeling in a more adventurous mood, snorkelling and diving tours can also be arranged.

Dogs are permitted to stay upon prior arrangement at an extra fee, and there are local dog-friendly beaches nearby. No smoking inside the lodges.
