You’ll find Ty Felin (or Mill House) at Hendre Farm, nestled at the foot of the spectacular Carningli Mountain, overlooking Newport Bay. With the Preseli Hills as your backdrop, this 80-acre smallholding is the perfect place from which to explore North Pembrokeshire in all its glory. What’s more, the property is wheelchair friendly, making it ideal for guests with any accessibility needs.
A small ramp takes you to the front door, entering into Ty Felin’s open-plan living area. You’ll soon notice the care that has gone into this wonderful renovation, ensuring all the comforts of home feature alongside original touches – including arrow windows and stunning exposed Welsh-stone walls. The double-height proportions and rafters above create a spacious and airy feel, while inviting furnishings make for a cosy welcome.
To your right is the very well-appointed kitchen and dining area. The tiled floor maintains the ‘country cottage’ feeling, while a full-size electric cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, and dishwasher provide everything you need to self-cater during your stay. A large farmhouse dining table and chairs seat eight, so there’s plenty of space for everyone to sit down for delicious meals together.
If cooking’s not quite your thing, or you’re treating yourself to a break from the kitchen, that’s no problem. Order fresh bread, cakes and ready meals from Hendre Farm’s sister farm, Dinas Island Farm, and you could be enjoying locally sourced, homemade treats throughout your stay. Beware, though: you’ll be spoiled for choice when you come to order…fruit cakes, sponges, lasagne, curry, the list goes on… And, of course, everyone’s favourite – Welsh cakes!
After a spot of indulgence, relax back on one of the comfy sofas in the living area, pop your feet up, and watch something on the wall-mounted television. And if there’s nothing on, you also have a DVD player and Hi-Fi for entertainment.
The three bedrooms at Ty Felin are split between two floors – the ground floor and a mezzanine above. The ground-floor bedrooms sleep two each, and both are accessible with extra-wide, 3ft doorways. The first is a king-size room with beautiful, open beamed ceilings, and the second is furnished with two comfortable twin beds.
The shower room is located next door and is also suitable for wheelchair users, thanks to its ‘drive-in’ design and non-slip flooring. There is also a useful utility room downstairs, complete with a washing machine and a second shower.
