Uniquely located in a renovated warehouse just a stone’s throw from Bristol’s buzzing centre, Towed Town Camping is the ideal setting for a city break with an imaginative twist.
You’ll find the ‘campsite’ itself close to the banks of the River Avon, part of the city’s famed industrial and more recently creative hub. Step inside, and you’ll find five unique, cosy and lovingly-styled vintage caravans.
There’s also a communal ‘hangout’ area, complete with pool table, books, games, and an honesty bar cunningly disguised as a classic TV.
(Not only is soulful relaxation is all but guaranteed, but this is the place where new friends are bound to be made!)
Three of their caravans have small double beds and two have king sized beds (if you are over 6’2 they suggest going for one of their larger caravans, Asha or Elsie). Each caravan is equipped with its own grassy area – perfect for a morning coffee and evening drinks. You’ll also find surprisingly spacious bathrooms, with shower, toilet and sink directly opposite each caravan.
Now it’s time to choose your favourite. Cleopatra is a 1960’s Sprite, stylishly re-imagined as a vibrant Eighties’ Miami Beach haven. She includes a cosy double bed, a seating area and a small wardrobe.
You’ll find Dotty decked in bold, dark colours for a minimalist-chic feel, with a comfy lounging seat for two. Meanwhile, sophisticated Mia – a 1960’s Monza caravan – feels luxuriously spacious inside.
A 1993 Omega, Asha is the youngest caravan, grandly equipped with a kingsize bed…and a separate dressing area that features a ‘Hollywood’ mirror! Finally, Elsie is the largest of the five, featuring a downy super kingsize bed and a relaxing sofa.
There’s a Freeview TV inside each caravan, along with an electric heater to keep you lovely and cosy. While you can make as much tea or coffee as you like, there are no cooking facilities…which means you’ve got endless opportunities to sample the culinary delights of Bristol! Order a tasty takeaway, or if you’re in the mood to explore, there are plenty of restaurants within a fifteen-minute stroll.
A fabulous base from which to immerse yourselves in the city, you can do everything from shop ‘til you drop, to jumping on the nearest ferry and taking a tour of the harbour. Cross the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, hire a bike and marvel at the local street art, or head for one of the many nearby theatres if you fancy a shot of culture.
Head back to Towed Town at the end of yet another exhausting day, just in time to pour a welcome drink and chat the evening away with new friends.
Before you head for that cosy bed, don’t forget to make a toast to the humble city break – which just took on a whole new lease of life!
