Immersed in nature and featuring a beautiful natural swimming pond (that you can dive straight into from the kitchen door!) The Water Shed is an award-winning West Sussex eco-home that was also featured on the popular TV show, Grand Designs.
Owners Daniel and Nina – an architect and an interior, lighting, and furniture designer respectively – designed and built the magnificent timber-clad house themselves, completely from scratch. They specifically chose the peaceful 1.5-acre setting in Bosham for the village’s compelling natural beauty and breezy coastal walks.
Perfect for whole families in need of a soul-soothing escape, The Water Shed sleeps up to ten guests in five sumptuous bedrooms. And since two well-behaved dogs are also welcome to stay, nobody has to stay at home.
That’s good, because everyone should get to experience this true haven for relaxation, in which every last detail has been carefully thought through. Drop lighting, real fires, and cosy rugs combine with high-end appliances – including a Delonghi coffee machine to charge your mornings! – and toasty underfloor heating to make your stay feel effortlessly luxurious.
There’s even a playroom for the little ones, so you can pour a glass of wine, slide open the glass doors, and from the comfy kitchen sofa, watch the late afternoon sunshine dance across that glorious swimming pond. Festooned with lily pads and butterflies, there’s a chance you’ll catch a rare bird washing its wings… while if you’re really lucky, you might even catch sight of a deer in the distance.
Meanwhile, double-height glazing, a gleaming glass atrium, and scenic ‘floating’ balconies on the first and second floors capture those incredible natural vistas to scenic perfection.
But if you decide to get up close and personal with the outside, you’ll find plenty to captivate your senses. The regenerative, rich-hued garden resembles a miniature jungle, there’s a tennis court to practise your serve, and a crackling firepit to tell stories around.
