The Tower is a much-loved part of Salcombe’s history, a Grade II listed house originally dating from 1795 and featuring a beautifully crenellated stone tower…perfect for battening down the hatches on colder days.

The building has been expertly renovated and refurbished throughout, preserving its original historic detail whilst allowing for plenty of contemporary creature comforts, fixtures and fittings – all impressive enough for The Salcombe Tower to have been awarded Visit England 5 Star Gold status.

Refreshingly light and airy, there are plenty of well-positioned windows and lookout spaces throughout, from which you’ll be able to gaze across the Estuary towards the rolling hills and fresh sandy beaches of celebrity-studded East Portlemouth, the Harbour mouth and the stimulating sea waves.  And if you’re at all concerned about being a little too remote in an imposing Tower, the outside Cliff house steps will lead you straight to the bustling town centre with its inviting array of shops, and the quays – perfect for a seaside stroll studded with refreshing pit stops.

Enter The Salcombe Tower by short steps to the front door, which opens to a wide and welcoming slate-tiled hallway with high quality oak floors.  The cosy sitting area features two double sofa beds along with a TV and DVD player – an ideal space for congregating and deciding which of the property’s six stunning bedrooms to choose!

There are three bedrooms on the ground floor, one including a king size bed, one with two single beds. Both of these rooms feature glass double doors that lead out to their very own balconies…and their very own breathtaking seaside views. The third bedroom has a super king bed and a roomy ensuite shower room, and there is also a second shower and bathroom on this floor.

Take the stairs to the first floor and discover another three bedrooms to choose from, each with its very own ensuite bath/shower room – no long queues for the toilet here! Two of the bedrooms also offer stunning views of the sea and the Tower itself from their glass doors and generous balconies.

Once you’ve staked your claim on your favourite bedroom, head down the central staircase to the Lower Ground floor, where you’ll find a slate-floored open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area that’s perfect for lingering over dinner, drinks and lively conversation, with one side of the room glazed with louvre windows that access a large decked balcony…why not continue your chatting al fresco, under a star-speckled sky and perhaps with a glass of bubbles or two?

When it comes to preparing meals, you’ll find the kitchen is well-equipped for the heartiest of feasts, featuring granite worktops, gas hobs, a microwave and double oven…and not forgetting that all-important dishwasher! A sleek espresso machine will help to jump-start the grumpiest of non-morning people, while a handy washing machine and wet room area will help you deal with the aftermath of all those active walks, seaside and surfing adventures you’ll experience during your stay.

Later on, why not spend some downtime swapping adventure tales in the sitting area, perhaps with a soothing soundtrack provided by the Sonos music system?
