A wow-factor family-and-dog-friendly retreat set by the River Dee in Cheshire, complete with a freshwater plunge pool and an al fresco bathtub for bubble soaks by sunset
  • Sleeps: 4
  • Bedrooms: 2
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

The Red House is secluded by the River Dee, in the picture-perfect Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape, for an escape to make everyday cares float calmly away.

Perfect for a small family or a group of friends, the elevated single-storey retreat sleeps up to four guests, with one well-behaved dog also welcome (translation: nobody has to stay behind at home).

Soundtracked by the gentle river, the retreat’s open-plan layout creates a relaxed social space, with large windows and doors that welcome the outside in. There’s even a sandy beach area and a two-metre deep freshwater pool at the front, with a diving board for the adventurous!

On rainy days, lounge by the picture windows and watch TV all together, or chat at the dining table over a feast cooked in the sleek kitchen. Plush recliners and a wood-burning stove will be waiting as the evening arrives… just add laughter-fuelled stories and a glass of your favourite tipple.

Two bedrooms – one kingsize and the other a double – will lull you into a sound night’s sleep, and there’s a spa-like shower room for freshening up in style (not to mention an al fresco bathtub for languorous soaking-time).

All that’s left to do is curl up with a good book in the hammock, borrow a paddle board and explore the river, or head out into civilisation for a while. Your choice entirely.

Please note that only children over the age of 7 are permitted to stay at The Red House.
