A creatively restored unique retreat with enormous windows and a dedicated cinema space, petfriendly and set within the South Downs National Park.

Perfect for small families with children or group of friends, The Old Water Tank is a unique and fascinating Hampshire retreat that’s bursting with imagination.

Originally constructed as a water tank in 1909, creative owners Lynette and Adrian, a graphic designer and a photographer, have deftly transformed the space into a two-storey haven with full-height windows and a sunken garden.

Oh, and just underneath the mezzanine is a dedicated cinema space, gainfully equipped with a projector, a Roku streaming bar, and blackout curtains… all ready for epic movie nights snuggled up on the sofa! If it’s a chilly evening, simply switch on the underfloor heating to feel ridiculously cosy.

Sleek, clean lined, and sociable throughout (you’ll only find internal walls in the bathroom and utility area), there are two comfy sleeping spaces on the ground floor. One is furnished with twin beds and the other the aforementioned sofa, which cleverly converts to a double bed as needed.

After your sound night’s sleep, savour morning coffee out in the sunken garden, as you decide what you’ll do with the rest of the day.

You might choose to linger over a hearty breakfast, cooked in the mezzanine kitchenette and dining area, with daylight streaming in through those giant windows. Or curl up with a good book in the double-height sitting area, stylishly furnished with custom artwork and plump cushions.

If you’re heading out, you’ll soon find there’s plenty to explore in the local area. It almost goes without saying that the South Downs National Park is ideal for long, beautiful walks (with or without a four-legged friend!) and energising cycle-routes. If it’s a sunny day, simply pack a tasty picnic for a perfect day out.

What the guests of The Old Water Tank say

“Wow! That’s a one word review of our stay. The water tank was immaculate, gorgeous, fun and unique. We loved our stay and when we had a query Lynette popped over and helped within minutes. The guides that Lynette put together were super helpful and we were so pleased with this little gem! Thanks for having us!”

“A lovely living space with a homely feel to it. Very nicely decorated with a comfortable cinema area. Whilst we never reached out to the hosts, they made it clear that they were easily accessible should we need anything, to not hesitate to contact them. The area itself was very nice with a bunch of different nature walks and a local town to have a walk around in. Overall, was a very nice stay and could not have asked anything else!”

“Lynette was very friendly and helpful. She popped out to meet us and check all was ok with our stay. Our two boys loved the water tank and it was great to have movie night with the projector! We had a lovely Easter stay, very peaceful and just what we were looking for.”
