The Old Mission Church
The Old Mission Church occupies pride of place in the quaint Cotswold village of Paxford, where it has proudly stood since 1866.
The building’s recent architect-designed conversion expertly merges original church features with wow-factor modern elements, to create an adults-only, dog-friendly retreat that’s ideal for exploring the wider Cotswolds at your leisure.
Stained-glass windows attract plenty of cheerful, coloured light into the spacious living area, which includes a designer kitchen worthy of a celebrity chef, with a large central island and sleek, gleaming appliances. Meanwhile, bespoke furniture and lighting add generous helpings of style, as well as complementing the traditional church surroundings to perfection.
Choose from two elegant kingsize bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities to banish awkward morning queues. The mezzanine bedroom boasts a free-standing bathtub for decadent bubble-soaks, while the ground-floor bedroom features a glazed privacy screen that looks into the welcoming church interior.
There’s plenty of al fresco space to relax in, too, whether you’re unwinding in the south-facing landscaped seating area, or out on the rear patio, overlooking the open countryside as the sun melts gently over the horizon.
(Those plans to explore the wider Cotswolds, including Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold, and countless other hotspots, may have to be put on hold awhile!).
