Discover gracefully arched windows, warm colours and comfortable furnishings as you wander through the charmingly decorated rooms of your new holiday home.  A bright and welcoming entrance hall sets the scene, leading you to a spacious sitting and dining area that houses a warming fireplace – ideal for snuggling up in the leather sofa, whether that’s with a good book, or your favourite person!

Stroll through to the authentic country-style oak fitted kitchen, which you’ll find luxuriously well-equipped and perfect for preparing a selection of feasts fit to tempt the vicar!  The perfectly positioned kitchen window allows you to gaze out over the moorlands as you sip a well-deserved glass of wine, surrounded by delicious cooking smells and the soothing sound of birdsong outside.

A light and cosy double bedroom is the ideal setting for long, lazy morning lie-ins, while the bathroom features a tempting bath that’s just waiting to be filled right up with hot, relaxing bubbles – with a shower overhead if you prefer to wake yourself up with an energising burst of water!

This is definitely not the kind of holiday you’ll want to rush through, so it’s perfectly understandable if you decide to linger in your characterful new holiday home for a while.  However, if you venture outside you’ll soon discover plenty of stunning walks and cycle routes right from the doorstep, in this endless-seeming Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

You’ll be spoilt for choice of local areas to explore, with the Yorkshire Dales and Pennine Way both nearby.  Following a spot of fishing or horseriding, why not begin with a trip to Hannah Hauxwell’s romantically isolated farmhouse that was featured on TV’s popular ‘Season of My Life’ – and if you find yourself starting to acquire a taste for celebrity, pop into the Barnard Castle antique shop owned by David Harper of TV’s ‘Bargain Hunt’ fame?  Who knows, you may even encounter David himself as you wander around the town!

Barnard Castle itself offers an attractive array of shops, inns and restaurants, along with the internationally celebrated Bowes Museum which features an interesting programme of ever-changing exhibitions. 

Further afield, the beautiful Lake District is only an hour away, together with Beamish and the Metro Centre – so you’ll all too easily find something different to capture your attention on each and every day of your holiday.
