The Merry Harriers Shepherd’s Huts

Five luxurious and colourful huts, packed with comfort and perfectly set by a shimmering pond that overlooks the Surrey Hills.
  • Sleeps: 2 per hut
  • Bedrooms: Open plan
  • Bathrooms: 1 per hut
  • Minimum stay: 1 night

The Merry Harriers is far from your everyday English inn. For starters, its characterful origins date all the way back to the 16th century. Then, consider its amazingly beautiful setting, in the Surrey Hills’ Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The five shepherd’s huts you’ll find here are far from your everyday shepherd’s huts, too. Also originating from the 16th century, they acted as mobile shelters for itinerant shepherds as they moved across the countryside with their flocks.

Back then, you could expect to find a simple stove and a bed inside. However, you’ll soon find these vibrant huts, perfectly placed around a tranquil pond with soothing views across horse-dotted fields, have had a luxurious upgrade!

Each hut-for-two is packed with luxury that’s reminiscent of a hotel suite, with a downy double bed and a crackling log burner to warm your evenings (as well as underfloor heating). Yet all that’s just for starters.

Stylish and cosy, there’s comfy seating and a Netflix-enabled TV for ridiculously snuggly evenings in, and an ensuite bathroom equipped with an indulgent rainfall shower and luxury toiletries – ideal for freshening up after a long day exploring the local area. There’s a stack of fluffy towels to wrap yourselves up in, too.

Supreme attention to detail has been paid to your holiday surroundings, in a way that means your every need has been well and truly catered for. The handy kitchen corner comes complete with a Nespresso machine, bottled water and a fridge.

Meanwhile, thoughtful little extras include a hair dryer and hot water bottles, so you can pack perfectly light. In fact, all that’s left to do is head outside, to discover a firepit that’s ideal for marshmallow toasting under the stars, and teak sun loungers primed for curling up with a good book on a sunny afternoon.
