Perfectly positioned in-between bustling Oxford and the scenic Cotswolds, you’ll discover The Island Oxfordshire at the heart of a water-skiing lake at Hardwick Parks, a popular holiday and watersports venue.

Just hop on board the motorboat provided (your nominated captain must be over 25) and take the two-minute journey across to the island – a glorious way to mark the beginning of a holiday!

When you arrive, you and your group will have access to the entire lower floor and the surrounding grounds…on which you’ll find an array of delights that include an Arctic spa hot tub, a barbecue and pizza oven, a table tennis table, a kids’ play area, and the fabulous ‘Wonky’ Bar!

Accommodating an impressive total of up to 22 guests, this is an ideal setting for a fun and relaxed break with much-loved friends and family, without anyone having to miss out, as well-behaved pets are also welcome!

Choose from double or twin rooms, and a wondrous ‘dorm’-style room for big and little kids alike. Featuring one bunk bed, four single beds and one double/twin bed, your scene is set for an epic giggly sleepover!  There is also one sofa bed room with far reaching lake views and even its own terrace!

Once you’ve bagged your favourite room, why not stock up the bar, grab a drink and hang out all together in the large, laid-back dining space, or in front of the welcoming open fire. Indulge your competitive spirits at the pool table or sit back and watch the water-skiers whizzing past on the lake… your choice.

Since you’re in an area with no light pollution, you can also expect to catch sight of the most awe-inspiring sunsets, not to mention a blanket of softly-twinkling stars. And if you can get up early enough, greeting the sunrise with a freshly-brewed coffee is sure to be a memorable holiday highlight.

What to do with the rest of the day? If you’ve been feeling inspired, you can arrange water-skiing lessons with the park, or fish directly from the island. If you’re in the mood for a little extra indulgence, you could even treat yourselves to exclusive use of the salon at the neighbouring Waterside Therapy Rooms.

There’s plenty of scope to explore further afield, too. The dreaming spires of Oxford are a mere 11 miles away, and the Cotswolds 10 miles… just choose your favourite direction, and you’re away.

However you choose to spend your time at this unique retreat, we’re willing to bet a highlight will include coming together in the ‘Wonky’ Bar as evening descends, toasting your amazingly good holiday fortune by another blazing sunset!

Things to note

Check in between 4-6pm, check out by 10am. Guests driving the boat must be over 25, provide full details for insurance purposes, and watch a short safety video before accessing the island. Please note that the owners do not own the lake, so you will have access to the crossing-route and 20ft around the edges only.
