Brockford Railway Sidings, found in the invigorating heart of Suffolk, consists of a two-acre site on which you’ll not only discover plenty of lush, wide open space surrounded by tranquil farmland and romantic country lanes, but also a selection of exquisitely restored, first-class railway accommodation!
Light, bright and lovely, the single-storey Guard’s Van comprises an original guard’s van, combined with a box wagon from the Mid Suffolk Light Railway to provide a stunning holiday home for up to four people.
Enter The Guard’s Van via steps that lead you to the carriage door. Step inside and feel immediately at home, with a warmly welcoming living and dining area that fully evokes that exhilarating feeling of chugging along the fresh countryside! Comfortably upholstered bench seats and wooden flooring add to the style and charm of the cheerfully decorated interior.
A well-equipped kitchen area will help you keep the railside buffet fully stocked, while a compact shower room is the perfect place to freshen up after a long day rambling through the countryside.
Enjoy your meals out in the open garden, complete with plenty of comfy furniture – why not linger awhile and watch the golden sunset disappearing over gently rustling trees? When it’s finally time to say goodnight, you’ll discover two perfectly appointed bedrooms – one double and one twin – both cosily furnished with freshly-dressed beds and boasting gloriously green views from their windows…what a wonderful way to wake up!
After a hearty breakfast accompanied by plenty of fresh coffee and lively conversation, it would surely be a shame not to venture out and explore the local area. Particularly when you’re surrounded by so much stunning countryside, with long lanes and fresh farmland that’s just begging to be rambled through, whether on two feet or two wheels.
If you’re worrying that you’ll be miles from anywhere in the countryside, there’s no need. Centrally located, The Guard’s Van is the ideal base for exploring all that Suffolk has to offer, with the picture-book village of Debenham just four miles away, and the charming village of Mendlesham even closer at just over a mile. If you haven’t had your fill of trains, why not pay a visit to the Mid Suffolk Railway Museum, where in summer you can take a trip on an authentic steam train?
