A folly is an “extravagant structure” made popular in the 19th century and discovered in places where the views are exceptional.  In other words, a folly is the perfect holiday home, drenched in history and beautifully positioned for you to breathe in fresh air whilst enjoying luxuriant countryside views.

The Folly is a detached Georgian Grade II listed property that was originally built in 1832, and is set in the garden of the owners’ house in the picturesque village of Hambledon, offering endless tree-strewn views of fields, foliage and charming cottages.

Beautifully designed to resemble a castle turret, the building features three floors and sleeps two people in a double bedroom.  Don’t forget to pack your crown and ermine to make the most of the sense of royalty you’ll feel as you survey your brand-new kingdom from the top floor, glass of bubbles firmly in hand!

Inside, the building is light and bright, featuring arched windows and doors and contemporary features that blend in with the original architecture. You’ll find everything you need for a relaxing stay, including a boutique fitted kitchen with microwave and a shower room with toilet on the ground floor.  Take the narrow stairs to the welcoming living and dining area, cosily furnished with an electric fire – perfect for curling up with a good book.

On the second floor you’ll discover a double bedroom that’s ideal for snuggling, furnished with antique pine and featuring some of the very best countryside views from the window.

For al fresco drinking, dining, chatting and stargazing, you’ll find a beautiful flower-filled garden complete with table and chairs, and a sunny outside area right at the top of the building.  And if you fancy a swim, you won’t have to go very far at all as you’ll have full use of the owner’s indoor heated 30-foot swimming pool in the summer months!

If you’re a sports fan, you may just find yourself in clover at The Folly!  Hambledon is the birthplace of cricket, and you’ll find the Rose Bowl cricket ground within easy reach, together with a local free tennis court complete with equipment supplied…why not go and practise some of those Wimbledon-winning shots? Goodwood Racecourse is nearby, and there’s ample opportunity for horse riding and golfing practise, too.
