Eco-friendly cabins for lovers of adventure in the Great Outdoors, secluded next to an 18th century inn that overlooks ancient woodland and lush, sheep-dotted Dorset countryside.
  • Sleeps: 4 per cabin
  • Bedrooms: 1 per cabin
  • Bathrooms: 1 per cabin
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

An ingenious concept – aptly borne of an animated conversation in the pub! – Outdoor Inns comprise a selection of eco-friendly cabins in naturally beautiful settings… each cabin also positioned by a welcoming inn.

So if you’re an adventurous soul who loves getting lost in the Great Outdoors, yet you still appreciate cosy home-comforts (not to mention tasty home-cooking and excellent real ale) then you’ve just found your holiday heaven.

Elevated on a Dorset hill with sublime views over the ancient Duncliffe Woods, The Coppleridge Inn is a former 18th century farm, magnificently converted into a warmly sociable inn with beamed ceilings and a roaring fire in winter.

Balmy summer afternoons, meanwhile, can be spent in the inn’s pretty courtyard, safe in the knowledge that your eco-friendly wooden cabin is close by.

Dog and child-friendly, Merlin and Rocky each sleep up to four guests: Merlin in a double bed and Rocky in twin beds, both with an additional sofa bed. Large windows and glass doors allow plenty of natural light to flood inside, whilst showcasing those incredible rural views to perfection.

What else? There’s a fully-equipped kitchen for meals and snacks, and a selection of board games to help you while away a few idle holiday hours in the company of your favourite people.

(Yes, you’ll have Wi-Fi too… but in a setting as serene and idyllic as this, we doubt you’ll want to use it!)

Outside, those fresh surroundings are truly your oyster. Even when you’re simply relaxing by the firepit in your own private space, the soul-stirring views – whether of the tranquil fields and woodland or the star-studded night sky – promise to both relax and revive you.

Exploring further afield could take the form of traversing Duncliffe Woods’ network of walking trails and doing a little wildlife-spotting, or visiting Stourhead House and its 18th century landscape garden.

Pop into the Udder Farm Shop for mouth-watering local treats, or head into historic Shaftesbury and browse quirky independent shops, against a mesmerising backdrop of Thomas Hardy’s Blackmore Vale. You’ll find an outdoor swimming pool here, too – perfect for lazy afternoon dips in the summertime.

(The gateway to the South West, Shaftesbury is also the home of Gold Hill – made famous by the iconic Hovis TV ad!)

And after a full day of fresh-air adventure, what better way to welcome the evening than with a chilled glass of real ale and a meal you didn’t have to cook… your very own Outdoor Inn mere steps away?

Things to note
