Full of cosy charm and historic romance, The Clock Tower dates from 1845 and is peacefully secluded at Barton Court: a lovingly-restored country estate on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills.

The private Colwall estate centres around a striking Georgian manor house, and is perfectly positioned for exploring the three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. Yet once you’ve settled into your enticing bolthole, you may not want to leave.

You’ll feel as though you’ve left the rest of the world far behind as you step inside, straight into the characterful sitting room. Here, soft lighting, comfy sofas, and a warming log-burner set the ultimate scene for relaxed evenings in.

The sleek, fully-fitted kitchen combines modern appliances with well-chosen vintage elements, to help you prepare romantic feasts with plenty of style. On sunny mornings, simply open the back door to savour a delicious breakfast in your private paved garden, soundtracked by joyous birdsong.

When it’s finally time to say goodnight, wander upstairs to your inviting bedroom, furnished in authentic 18th century style, and showcasing idyllic countryside views to the east and west. The antique sleigh bed is cosily dressed in period fabrics, with a modern mattress to aid dreamy nights of slumber. And while the shower room is back downstairs, there’s an en-suite cloakroom to minimise any late-night interruptions.

(Don’t worry: while the original clock housing remains grandly elevated above the bedroom ceiling, the clock itself is no longer wound, so there’ll be no rude awakenings!).

What to do during the day? Relax with a good book, or get lost in conversation with your loved one, unhurried and unfettered by time. You’ll also have access to the estate’s private Walled Garden, and if you’ve brought your dog along, there are some wonderful walking trails that start just outside the door.
