Enchantingly located in a peaceful wooded spinney that forms part of a friendly Northamptonshire farm, arriving at the Chestnut Lodge is bound to gladden your spirits.

Unique, quirky, and completely off-grid, the eco-friendly retreat was lovingly hand-crafted by an artisan carpenter, from reclaimed materials and sweet chestnut (hence the name!) for you to relax and unwind, blissfully free from digital distractions.

Sleeping a romantic couple and their well-behaved pets, there’s a downy double bed to curl up in, a handy shower room, and a cosy dining area to help those long, laughter-fuelled conversations along… naturally, over a good bottle of wine or two.

Just light the wood-burner, and you’ll be perfectly toasty even on the chilliest of evenings. There’s underfloor heating too, while solar panels power lighting that casts a soft, golden glow.

Outside awaits a glorious al fresco kitchen with a wood-fired oven, bar, and a firepit barbecue that’s a joy to cook on – particularly as the blazing sun melts slowly into the horizon beyond.

Fancy a change of scenery to go with your aperitifs? You’ll also have access to Bluebell, a charming shepherd’s hut that doubles as a comfy lounge area.

Start your day with morning coffee on the decking – if you can get up early enough, the sunrises are truly beautiful – and enjoy views of sheep-dotted fields. The owners are happy to show you around their farm, or you could take a stroll along the tow paths of the Grand Union Canal… whatever takes your fancy the most.
