St. Andrews House was once a rectory and choir school for the nearby church in Fort William, now exquisitely transformed into a duo of luxurious retreats.

The imposing house is one of the town’s oldest listed buildings, built by the renowned Scottish architect Alexander Ross in the 1880s. Resplendent with Gothic stone turrets, rich wooden beams and stained-glass windows, the atmosphere is one of timeless opulence, set off by magnificent views over Loch Linnhe beyond.

Indulgent additions to both retreats include a sauna and hot tub, both of which can feel particularly welcome after a long day of glorious immersion in the Scottish Highlands!

Choose between the pet-friendly East Wing, once home to the rector and his household, or the West Wing, a spacious former school. Each retreat sleeps 6-8 guests, with sumptuous private facilities that include a well-equipped kitchen and large, elegant en-suite bedrooms.

Stepping into the charming East Wing feels almost like emerging from a time machine. There’s a sociable ‘country house’ feel to the large dining area, which is perfect for breaking bread all together, and there are plenty of cosy corners for curling up with a good book – not to mention an outdoor hot tub to help you greet the sunset in style.

Meanwhile, four large bedrooms offer a versatile mix of superking, double, and single sleeping spaces, with one bathroom-attached double room on the ground floor.

The cathedral-like West Wing boasts large ornate windows, high ceilings, and an open-plan layout, for a relaxed sense of grandeur throughout. Historic elements include the original pitch pine beams, and expertly-restored stone fireplaces with unique carvings.
