Space Conker has the feel of a unique other-worldly craft, carefully landed in the most beautiful natural spot its inhabitants could find.

Elevated above the popular, picturesque French village of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, the glinting mirrored sphere reflects the surrounding Alpine landscape to perfection; taking in the mighty Mont-Blanc and the soaring Chaîne des Aravis in its panoramic sweep.

Here, you can get beautifully lost amongst the tall, whispering trees, or take a ride uphill to explore the pistes of Les Houches… if the conditions are right, you could even ski your way home again!

You’ll be perfectly secluded in this glorious location, with nature’s bounty at your full disposal… though there’s also plenty of cosy comfort to be found on board your Space Conker. A modular bed cleverly transforms into a sofa to snuggle on by day – fresh linen is provided – and there’s a handcrafted globe-shaped stove to warm your evenings with its soft, hazy glow.

Just before you drift into a blissful slumber, listen out for owls hooting and watch the starshine from the windows… if you’re lucky, you might even catch the Milky Way or the occasional meteor-shower.

Meanwhile, there’s electricity to help your phone stay nicely charged (because you WILL want to update your Instagram!).

Spend long, lazy afternoons on your cosily-furnished deck, complete with a firepit and a fondue stand for sublime al fresco cooking. There’s no running water, but you’ll have full use of a handy washstand with pure, drinkable mountain spring water, and towels are provided to help you pack perfectly light.

Meanwhile, you’ll have not one but two toilets to choose from. One is around ten minutes’ walk away and takes a little bit of climbing, but the incredible view you’ll be rewarded with is more than worth it!

If you can tear yourselves away from your private Alpine idyll, lace up your sturdiest footwear and explore the spectacular Chamonix valley. Nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc, the valley isn’t just one of the world’s best skiing resorts, it’s also wonderful for walking, hiking, climbing, paragliding, water-rafting, and even a round of golf.

Rather go shopping and be pampered awhile? Simply take a 20-minute drive into the bustling village, where you’ll find shops and restaurants galore…

…oh, and the opportunity to take a three-hour, three-phase ‘Mont-Blanc Bath’ in the mountain’s thermal, mineral-rich spring water, for an indoor/outdoor experience that promises to leave you feeling truly revived!

Things to note

Check in from 4pm, check out by 10:30am. While the site is remote and guests will have it completely to themselves, there will always be someone to contact with questions if needed. There is no running water, but the washstand will have plenty of pure mountain water for drinking and washing. Along with food and drink, it is highly recommended that you pack sturdy footwear, poles, all-weather clothing, and a strong head torch for exploring the mountainous local area. Please note that free parking is a 15-minute walk away from the Space Conker, which is accessed by a steep slope.
