Featured in the Times’ list of the best rural retreats, Signal Box is a stunning wooden cottage, adjacent to the railway station in the invigorating Scottish village of Newtonmore.
The immaculate accommodation for four is upside-down, with the top-floor living space making the most of those amazing views, out towards the Cairngorm mountain range and River Spey. There’s a crackling woodburner to keep you warm, plus a cosy double sofa bed. Meanwhile, the ground-floor space features a comfy double bedroom and a bathroom equipped with a sauna.
As you might imagine, there are plenty of amazing walks in the local area, including the famed Wildcat Trail, plus the local pub is a mere ten minute stroll away.
We wouldn’t blame you, however, for whiling away your time simply gazing out over that amazing scenery, from the comfort of the living room or the first-floor balcony. The Signal Box is that deliciously lazy kind of place.
