An iconic American school bus transformed into an adults-only, dog-friendly sanctuary with a wood-fired hot tub and glorious green views, peacefully nestled on an Anglesey countryside retreat.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

You’ll find the fabulous Shirley Bussey beautifully parked at Mount Pleasant Hideaway: a five-acre, adults-only countryside retreat in Rhosybol (Welsh for “moor in the hollow”) on the isle of Anglesey.

An iconic, bright yellow American school bus, Shirley stands out in a crowd (just like her Welsh diva namesake,) for a romantic escape with generous helpings of laid-back fun and creativity. There’ll be no need to call the dog-sitter either, as your best four-legged friends are very welcome to stay with you.

Step aboard and be greeted by a welcoming living space with warm wooden flooring and a cushion-festooned sofa… ideal for chatting over drinks, or simply snuggling up and admiring pristine rural views from the windows.

Generous facilities include Wi-Fi, a kitchenette for on-board catering, and a bathroom with a piping hot shower and flushing toilet. There’s a cosy kingsize bedroom right at the back, complete with a 40-inch TV for late-night movies and lazy lie-ins.

If the evening sun is shining, steal outside and watch it sink gently behind the trees, perhaps accompanied by a well-deserved glass of wine. Other al fresco delights include a firepit for late-night storytelling, and a wood-fired, bath-like hot tub for warming soaks by starlight – as well as a grassy, gated garden that’s ideal for doggy guests!

After a sound night’s sleep, greet the morning with coffee and birdsong before planning the rest of your day. If you’re staying on site, you’ll have five acres of gorgeous meadow walks at your disposal, so why not pack a picnic and choose your favourite direction? There’s a dedicated dog park to explore, too.

If you can bear to leave, there are charming country pubs just waiting to welcome you. Or take one of the many fascinating copper-trail walks to be discovered around Parys Mountain; almost on your doorstep and one of Anglesey’s must-visit locations. Climb to the Great Opencast and be rewarded with a spectacular array of colours from the ancient mine’s excavation, as well as distant views to Snowdonia.
