At Shank Wood Log Cabin the beautiful bounty of nature provides your accommodation, dining and entertainment…all in one breathtakingly natural setting where traffic sounds are replaced with leaves rusting on trees, joyous birdsong and running river water.
Perfectly nestled amongst 140 acres of private ancient woodland, Shank Wood Log Cabin looks out onto a rolling backdrop of cliffs and the picturesque river Lyne, the ideal setting to watch dippers and kingfishers searching for their early morning breakfast as the sun rises – a scene made even better accompanied by a steaming mug of coffee!
Sleeping up to 4 people, the mezzanine split-level cabin is a wonderful setting for a romantic getaway, or for a nature-inspired adventure with friends or family. Exquisitely and skillfully constructed in Canadian style, this stunning cabin makes innovative use of an entire tree trunk, along with a selection of hand-scribed and locally-sourced logs. The result is a unique holiday home that blends perfectly with its natureful surroundings, allowing you to feel at one with nature from the moment you arrive.
Shank Wood Log Cabin is set in a Special Area of Scientific Interest, and has been designed to work with nature in preserving the local environment. Enjoy solar-powered lighting and heating from a clean burn wood burner in the welcoming living area, while the wood-fired hot tub outside acts as the perfect bath!
Inside, you’ll discover luxuriously rustic accommodation at its very best. Snuggle up on the leather sofa in front of the wood burning stove on your first night – perhaps with a glass of wine or two – in perfect preparation for the rest of your stay.
Prepare hearty meals on the outdoor barbecue…and if you’re stuck for ingredients, the river Lyne is full of fresh trout and salmon! Simply bring a fishing rod, or hire one for the duration of your stay. Enjoy your freshly caught meals in the sociable dining area, with a table and benches made from locally-sourced wood.
Why not end your evening by relaxing in the wood-fired hot tub, where you can watch the first stars appearing in the clear Cumbrian night sky? Then, when you’re finally ready to turn in, just head inside to the mezzanine floor where you’ll find two cosy back-to-back double beds.
