Once the Sussex seaside haven of Steven O’Rourke, long-time manager of the iconic rock band Pink Floyd, Seaside Retreat isn’t just uniquely awe-inspiring but steeped in music history.
Once an unassuming single-storey bungalow on West Wittering’s glorious beachfront, this chic coastal retreat now features two vintage train carriages running through its centre – along with its very own sauna, hot tub, al fresco bar, and artist’s studio – for a group break that will have everybody enthralled.
Not only can you savour panoramic sea views that stretch from Selsey to the Isle of Wight, but you’ll be treading in the hallowed footsteps of rock royalty.
O’Rourke hosted legendary gatherings at his (then pink-hued) beachfront bolthole: not only with members of Pink Floyd but the Rolling Stones and many others. So if you’re a musical type yourself, you may even come home with a little creative inspiration!
Sleeping up to 12 guests, there are six bedrooms to choose from, each one with its own individually luxurious feel. Three of the bedrooms are set within a vintage railway carriage for an extra talking point, while the superking master boasts a separate living area with a log-burner, and direct access to the sea-view balcony.
Why not plan a cocktail reception in the elegant bar area, which you’ll find right by the cosily-furnished, art-filled lounge? Food preparation will be a (sea) breeze too, since the sleek kitchen comes equipped with every convenience a group break could possibly need. They include a double oven, a dishwasher, and a coffee machine to charge your mornings to perfection.
You’ll also find a snug dining area here – though on sunny afternoons the terrace might well seem a more appealing and scenic option! Simply step out of the kitchen and you’re there… while hidden nicely away nearby is the secluded hot tub, for supreme sunset-watching later on.
