Beautifully located just outside the quaint Aberdeenshire harbour town of Macduff, Rustic Hollow is surrounded by Scottish nature at its most beautiful.

Fans of romantic getaways themselves, friendly owners Holly and Stuart had a dream of creating the ideal couples’ retreat. They started by choosing a favourite spot at the end of their private field – which not only catches the sun all day long, but is a haven for the local rabbits, deer, and pheasants.

Then, Holly and Stuart worked closely with an expert team of cabin-makers to create Rustic Hollow, a modern-yet-simple retreat that’s not only beautifully furnished, but showcases the surrounding rural landscape and huge skies to perfection.

Chilly nights won’t be a problem, as there’s underfloor heating and a gorgeous wood-burning stove to keep you toasty, though balmy summer evenings may be better spent with a soak in the al fresco copper bathtub, instead! Just add a glass of bubbles, and watch the sun setting right in front of you.  

(Why not follow your soak with a round of toasted marshmallows around the sunken firepit, under a twinkling canopy of stars?)

Meanwhile, there’s an ample kitchen, complete with an electric hob, and all the cutlery and utensils you could possibly need to enjoy romantic suppers. You’ll have a dreamy walk-in shower, too, along with a stack of fluffy towels.

And when it’s finally time to turn in, you can snuggle up in the downy kingsize bed… positioned right by a huge picture window that guarantees the very best morning views!

Enjoy them up close by taking your first coffee of the day out to the decking, letting the soothing sounds of nature carry you away.

As for what to do with the rest of your time, we recommend bringing your notebook or sketch pad, as these are perfect conditions for igniting creative fires! There’s full Wi-Fi, too, just in case you need to catch up on life back home (or even just your favourite TV shows.)

If you’re heading further afield, a short drive will lead you to a wealth of attractions that suit just about every holiday taste. Explore timeless coastal villages, wander majestic castle grounds, devour a scenic woodland picnic, or spoil a good walk by visiting one of the area’s many golf courses… well, you are in Scotland, after all!

Wear yourselves out in the most enjoyable ways imaginable, until it’s time to make your retreat to Rustic Hollow to catch another incredible sunset.

Things to note

Check in at 3pm, check out by 11am. Children and pets are regrettably not permitted. Please note that the site is not currently wheelchair-friendly.
