A light, bright and beautiful Isle of Wight retreat with two scenic balconies and a relaxing infrared sauna, just a pebble-skim away from Gurnard Beach.
  • Sleeps: 8
  • Bedrooms: 4
  • Bathrooms: 3
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

Sleeping up to eight guests, Rotherwood is the ideal “get away from it all” retreat for families and friends who do like to be beside the seaside!

The seaside in question is Gurnard Beach, a quaint pebble-and-shingle Isle of Wight haven that’s within easy walking distance of lively Cowes, yet feeling worlds away from all the hustle and bustle.

Accommodation is generously spaced over three floors, meaning you’ll have plenty of space to socialise all together, or relax on your own with a good book and a glass of wine. Oh, and not forgetting the luxurious infrared sauna, on hand to help you unwind even further!

You’ll find the stylish, sumptuous lounge, kitchen and diner on the top floor, with huge windows to help you make the most of those shimmering views across the Solent. There’s a large TV and a log-burner to aid snuggly evenings in, while the sleek kitchen preparation island will make your designated cook feel like the latest celebrity chef.

In the mood for an al fresco supper? You’ll find the garden gainfully equipped with a barbecue and casual picnic-bench seating; perfect for chatting long after the blazing  sun has disappeared over the horizon.

When it’s finally time to say goodnight, there are four elegant bedrooms to choose from. Two rooms feature versatile zip-and-link beds that mean they can be either doubles or twins, and two feature en-suite facilities. There’s also an indulgent family bathroom, so no-one will have to queue.

After a sound night’s sleep, why not fire up the coffee maker and head out to your choice of top or middle-floor balcony? Both showcase soothing beach-and-garden views that will help you ease peacefully into the day ahead.

More information

(If you can get up early enough, you could always take the shortest of strolls to the beach, and witness its incredible sunrises for yourself.)

What you do with the rest of your time here is gloriously up to you.  You could choose to spend long, lazy days on the beach, watching the boats glide past. The locals particularly love it when large ships pass by, as they make waves that are wonderful to bathe in on a sunny day!

You could also wander into historic Cowes for shopping and coffee-stops, surrounded by ornate architecture and quirky independent shops. Since Cowes also marks the beginning of the circular Isle of Wight Coastal Path, you may also want to make sure you’ve packed your walking boots.

Don’t feel like straying that far? There are plenty of friendly pubs close by… though you may simply decide to pour another glass of bubbles at Rotherwood, and await another beautiful sunset from what’s sure to become your favourite holiday retreat!

What the guests of Rotherwood say

“Wow- what a great house, view was fab (but you can see that from the pictures) everything in the house was top quality from the appliances and china to the beautiful cotton linens and Sheridan towels. Really nice layout, so great for a work trip (as we were) 4 adults all needing their own space! – to a family break – wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this house, its just the right spot to be quiet, but with Cowes on your doorstep 5 minutes away by car. Top class.”

“We had a wonderful time at Laura’s beautiful place. It was so lovely sitting in the living area upstairs looking at the activity on the sea and having a glass of bubbly on the outside deck. Thoughtful gesture of welcome pack with basics, wine and local gin samples which we then had to go and get at the local distillery! Well designed house with everything we needed and very modern. Sauna was a surprise- will have to go back so I have a chance to use it! Great communication from Laura and easy entry access and clear instructions for wifi.”

“What a beautiful house and location! Literally footsteps from the beach! Check in was very easy and Laura had left us some lovely essentials which saved us from heading to the shops straight away. We would love to stay all over again!”
