Ravenglass Pullman is a richly-restored, authentic Pullman railway coach, direct from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway line. These days you’ll find it permanently stopped in the Lake District National Park’s only coastal village, for beautiful views that won’t whizz by in a flash!

Sleeping up to four guests and their two well-behaved dogs, the stylish interiors evoke plenty of laid-back luxury. There’s a warming wood-burner and a raised TV for cosy movie nights in, and a large dining table to savour meals rustled up in the well-equipped kitchen.

‘Sleeper’ compartments come in the form of two gloriously cosy bedrooms: one double with a handy en-suite shower room, and a cosy twin – also with its own separate shower room to avoid any cross-legged morning queues.

Spend sunlit mornings out in your fenced patio area, cradling a steaming coffee as the kids and dogs run off their energy in the communal garden. When you’re ready, there are plenty of wonderful Lake District walking trails to explore, perhaps armed with a tasty picnic.

The village of Ravenglass boasts mesmerising history, and short strolls will lead you to Muncaster Castle and the Roman Bath House, both must-visits. Wasdale, home to England’s highest mountain and deepest lake, is a mere 11 miles away, too – perfect for a refreshing spot of wild swimming!
